Seasonal Update 1.8: “New Generation”

The Major July Content Update for War Thunder Mobile is already in the game!

In this update, you can expect to see the following:

  • Launch of the new season for a long-running event featuring premium vehicles.
  • Start of a new season and VIP levels of Battle Pass.
  • A new ship map, “Greek Archipelago”.
  • New common vehicles – Chinese platoon ZTZ96 and nuclear-powered missile cruiser USS Truxtun!
  • New mechanics – hard-kill active protection system.
  • Bugfixes, changes and much more.

Season “New Generation”

Complete the “New Generation” season’s battle tasks, earn War Bonds as a reward, and unlock trophy containers with valuable prizes.

Unique trophy rewards: the premium Ersatz M10 platoon and light cruiser HMS Dido in the Medium Trophy container, and the premium T-55AMD-1 platoon and Battleship IJN Yamashiro in the Big Trophy container.

The Medium Trophies of the Season are opened for War Bonds. One campaign needs 6,000 bonds to get two guaranteed jackpots.

Ways to get the War Bonds:

  • 300 bonds are awarded as a gift with the start of the Season to players of Level 3 or higher of any campaign;
  • Reward for completing the tasks of the season;
  • Rewards in the Season task progress bar;
  • Battle Pass rewards;
  • Reward from Small or Medium Trophies (10 to 300 items);
  • Season Offers and Store.

In total for the Season, you can get 5,700 bonds for completing tasks, a welcome bonus, a free BP lineup, completing the Season's task progress bar, being in the top 30% of tank and ship rankings. Another 300 War Bonds you can get from the Small Trophy for watching ads.

The race for vehicles in the Big Trophy container begins a week from today, on July 18th, 2024.

Battle Pass

Complete special tasks, level up your Battle Pass and receive rewards for your completed steps.

When you purchase the VIP pass, you instantly receive premium camouflages on vehicles from the Medium Trophies of both campaigns, as well as automatically completing 10 steps from the Battle Pass lineup. If you have already purchased an upgraded BP, the cost of the VIP pass will be reduced.

Camouflages for vehicles from the Medium Trophy are given out when you purchase a VIP pass, regardless if you have the vehicles.

Leaderboards

Leaderboards are already open! To join the ship leaderboard, a minimum of 5 naval battles is required, and for the tank leaderboard you need to have participated in at least 5 battles using ground vehicles.

The rating season ends on August 1st, 2024, at 10:00 (GMT). Rewards will be distributed within a few days after the leaderboards are frozen. It’s important to note that rewards may be given out at different times for different leaderboards.

New mechanics – APS

First time in the game: the hard-kill Active Protection Systems. APS are automated defense systems that counter missiles and shells flying at low speed towards the tank.

Principles of the "Drozd" APS functioning:

  • The distance of threat detection is ~60 meters. If the ATGM is fired from a closer range, the APS will not be triggered.
  • The explosive range of the ammo is ~10 m. If the ATGM passes between 60 m and 10 m to the target before the system sensor detects the projectile and gives the command to fire the countermeasure, the APS will not be triggered.
  • Projectiles moving at speeds of less than 70 m/s and more than 700 m/s are not detected by the system as a threat.
  • The "Drozd" APS is most effective against ATGMs of its generation. More modern missiles can overcome the detection distance faster than they can be detected and neutralized.
  • A situation in which the projectile has time to form a weakened shaped charge at the moment of destruction is acceptable.
  • Projectiles of caliber less than 50 mm and larger than 500 mm are not detected by the system as a threat.
  • The reload time of the countermeasure is 0.35 sec. If you are hit by two missiles, the system may not have time to fire the second countermeasure.
  • The 4 pairs of countermeasure tubes cover a combined frontal projection of 80° (-40° to +40°, where 0 is the center) horizontally and -6° to 20° vertically. Due to the small angles of vertical declination, the APS may be ineffective when firing at the lower part of the frontal projection.

Tips for commanders:

In order for the defense system to detect the threat as effectively and timely as possible, adhere to the following rules:

  • Stay as far away from the ATGM carrier as possible;
  • Hold the ATGM carrier in a frontal view (turn the front of the turret with sensors toward the enemy).

At the moment only the T-55AMD-1 in the game is equipped with APS.

Other

  • A bug that caused crew upgrade points in tank battles to be displayed in the battle statistics only if the battle was won has been fixed.
  • "Novorossiysk" – the ballistics of auxiliary caliber guns ammo has been corrected: now there will be no "overflights" when firing from auxiliary caliber guns.
