The Merkava Mk.2 was a further development of the first generation of Merkava tanks. It was introduced in 1983 after the end of the Israeli-Lebanese war. At the request of the military, the tank had reinforced turret protection added using overlapping armor panels, and spaced armour skirting was added to the rear of the hull.
One of the key changes was a new fire control system. The Merkava Mk.2 also received a new transmission and smoke grenade mortars. The improved version of the Merkava Mk.2B was soon created. The FCS was improved and the turret top was reinforced. The Merkava Mk.2B tanks were in service with the IDF until 2014.
Here is a new modification of the Israeli Merkava tank. Known for its incredible survivability and high firepower, the Merkava Mk.2B is a version of the tank with reinforced armor and a proprietary precision gun. Its APFSDS is noticeably more powerful than those used on the Merkava Mk.1.
Additional modules of composite armor were added to the sides and roof of the Mk.2B version. They increase resistance to HEAT and ATGM missiles, and slightly improve resistance to kinetic shells. Early HEAT will now also have difficulty in overcoming the protection of the hull rear where the slat armor is located. As on all versions of the IDF main tank, on the Merkava Mk.2B the engine and transmission compartment is located at the front of the hull. It protects the tank's crew very effectively – a penetration will cause a fire or engine failure, but the tank crew will be able to return fire.
The 105mm Sharir stabilized cannon is a close relative of the famous British L7 cannon. Commanders will find M413 shells in the Merkava Mk.2B's armament. APFSDS with very high penetration values and good damage are excellent against armored targets.
Due to good protection in the front projection and high efficiency of AP shells Merkava Mk.2B feels good in the offensive, especially in urban locations. Its speed is medium, so the Merkava has a hard time in open spaces, where it can't always get into favorable positions. Merkava Mk.2B is a well-balanced versatile tank with a tendency to group action and advantages in close urban combat. What are the other vehicles in the platoon? We are about to tell you!
A further modification of the American M60 tanks in the service of the Israel Defense Forces. This modification of the Magach is equipped with ERAs against missiles and HEAT.
The Tiran 6 is a modernized T-62 trophy tank, which retains all the advantages and disadvantages of the Soviet model: good mobility, high firepower, but low gun elevation angle and not the best survivability.
The SPAAG in the new Israeli platoon is the Shilka, a favorite of many players. It is a self-propelled unit with four high-speed 23mm guns for destroying aircraft and light armored vehicles.
The battleship "Arkhangelsk" was born as the British Royal Navy as the Revenge class battleship HMS Royal Sovereign. The ship joined the fleet in 1916. At the beginning of the Second World War, Royal Sovereign was assigned to escort convoys in the Atlantic and hunting for Kriegsmarine ships. In 1942 the battleship was relocated to the Indian Ocean. After repairs and modernization in early 1944 it returned to the UK. Here the ship within the Italian reparations to the USSR and under the name "Arkhangelsk" went to a location for service. As a part of the USSR Navy it was engaged in escorting Arctic convoys. The "Arkhangelsk" returned to Great Britain in 1949 and was soon sold for scrap.
A Soviet battleship with British roots – meet "Arkhangelsk", the USSR's new battleship with 381mm guns and an excellent air defense battery.
The peak of WWI ship design – 381mm British cannons, eight per ship, two in each of four turrets. A formidable weapon with good turret protection – with such guns you can safely go out against any enemy. In addition to the auxiliary caliber of 152 mm “Arkhangelsk” is equipped with a surprisingly powerful, for an early battleship, air defense battery of automatic guns of medium caliber. It will be very useful to cover any Allies that have a shortage of anti-aircraft artillery.
The ship is quite mobile and well protected. The “Arkhangelsk” can be used both alone and in a group – it is a truly versatile ship!
In the spring of 1944, mass production of the American F6F-5 Hellcat deck fighter began. It was a direct continuation of the previous F6F-3 modification, which used a new wing design and a reinforced fuselage tail section, and also had pylons for launching unguided HVAR missiles. The F6F-5N variant of the night fighter was soon adopted on its design. It became the main aircraft of the US Navy of this type. The night version received exhaust flame inhibitors, AN/APS-6 radar and enhanced forward-firing weapons.
Besides the U.S. Navy, the F6F-5N modification was supplied to the Royal Navy of Great Britain. More than 1150 aircraft of this modification were produced. The F6F-5N Hellcat was in service with the U.S. Navy until 1951.
The F6F-5N, unlike other Hellcat fighters, received a cannon armament – two machine guns in the wings were replaced by 20 mm cannons. Two cannons and four machine guns allow the pilot to easily destroy any air target up to bombers. The best use of the F6F-5N will be in attack missions and hunting for enemy strike aircraft at low altitudes – the radar will help the pilot to discover the enemies even before visual contact with them!
The fighter features a variety of outboard weapons – small HVAR missiles, huge Tiny Tim anti-ship missiles, bombs and even a torpedo!
The heavily-armed F6F-5N doesn't set any speed records, but if you get caught in its crosshairs, you won't escape unscathed. In short skirmishes Hellcat can compete with fighters as well, but try to destroy your opponent in one shot.
