🧰 The Big Trophy includes the first Japanese submarine in the game, the fast and maneuverable JDS Asashio.
The Asashio was the leader in the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force's diesel-electric submarine series, the first Japanese ocean-class submarines built after the end of World War II. The submarine was launched in 1965 and joined the fleet a year later.
The Asashio has actively participated in maneuvers and exercises both off the coast of the Japanese islands and in the Pacific Ocean. The Asashio was taken out of service in 1983 with a total mileage over 200,000 sea miles.
The JDS Asashio is a post-war submarine that will begin the silent hunt in the V rank of the Naval Campaign. Although it has no missile armament or artillery, the most important qualities of a classic submarine are fully realized in it.
The main and only armament of the JDS Asashio are torpedoes of 533 mm caliber. These fast post-war torpedoes have a good explosive load. The boat has 6 torpedo tubes forward of the hull and 2 more aft.
Unlike earlier submarines, the JDS Asashio has excellent maneuverability and relatively high speed both in the underwater position and at periscope depth. The Asashio can dynamically move through the battle zone, surfacing to attack in the most unexpected places for the enemy.
The Japanese JDS Asashio will be the second V rank submarine in the game (the first was the German Type XXI). Her opponents will be powerful armored battleships, which will now have to be increasingly aware of the threat from the depths! These slow, clumsy giants will be a tasty prey for light and agile submarines.
*Vehicle specifications and camouflages are still work in progress and may differ on release.
The JDS Asashio submarine (Rank V) will be available from the Big Trophy of the Ship Campaign or from an offer after the start of the Season.
