Type 69-IIG Platoon (Rank VIII)

Historical Note

The Type 69-IIG main battle tank is the result of a program to modernize the Chinese Type-69-IIM tanks in service with the Bangladesh Army. The combat vehicles received a new 105 mm gun, an improved fire control system, and ERA on the hull and turret. The modernization of the tanks took place between 2007 and 2009. Currently, the Type 69-IIG continues to serve in the Bangladesh Army alongside more modern tanks.

Type 69-IIG

The leader of China's new platoon is the Type 69-IIG main battle tank. It has improved protection and a more advanced gun with a new fire control system.

The Type 69-IIG is armed with a 105 mm L7 series gun. This is a precision gun with a stabilizer that fires several types of ammo. There is a particularly wide selection of shells for fighting lightly armored targets: HE-VT, SAPCBC, and HEATFS. The tank's APFSDS is able to penetrate almost any opponent.

The tank also received additional armor in the form of ERA on the upper frontal hull and sides of the turret. This gives the Type 69-IIG commander good protection against HEAT and anti-tank missiles. Unfortunately, the tank's own homogeneous armor is unlikely to protect the crew and internal modules from armor-piercing shells, so it is not worth trying to catch shells with the side of the Type 69-IIG.

The tank has average dynamics and performs best in long-range firefights. If you find yourself in close combat, the tank's survivability will almost always depend on the commander's ability to land the first accurate shot.

WMA301

Export version of the highly successful PTL02 wheeled tank destroyer with improved armament. The vehicle is characterized by excellent mobility, high speed, and a 105 mm gun capable of firing not only conventional shells but also ATGM (tandem).

PTZ89

The Chinese PTZ89 tracked anti-tank SPA is armed with a powerful 120 mm gun with an automatic loading system. The ammunition load includes two types of shells: HE for quick destruction of light vehicles and APFSDS that can penetrate any tank at range.

PGZ09

The new platoon's SPAAG is the mobile PGZ09 with a pair of 35 mm Oerlikon cannons. The vehicle is effective not only against aircraft, but also against light armored vehicles thanks to its belts with armor-piercing shells.

HMS Rodney (Rank V)

Historical Note

The Nelson-class battleships were the first recurrent ships of the Royal Navy built under the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty. HMS Rodney took an active part in World War II, participating in the battle against the German battleships Gneisenau and Scharnhorst and in the sinking of the battleship Bismarck. Later, it escorted convoys to Malta and even an Arctic convoy to Murmansk, and ensured the landing of Allied troops in Italy and Normandy. It was decommissioned in 1948.

The HMS Rodney is a huge and unwieldy British ship that stands out for its impressive potential damage, good defense, and high survivability. It is one of the main heroes of any battle, and here's what future commanders can expect from this bastion of the seas.

HMS Rodney is excellently armed. Its main caliber consists of nine 406- mm guns. All main caliber mounts are located in the front of the ship. It is important to remember that in order to fire a full broadside, the commander will need to turn the ship's bow away from the enemy. The guns inflict enormous damage, but have a fairly long reload time. The secondary armament consists of twelve 152-mm guns concentrated closer to the stern. HMS Rodney is also equipped with large 622-mm torpedoes.

Its low speed, large turning radius, and the location of its main turrets make it important to plan your route carefully, as the Rodney is unlikely to be able to react quickly to changes in the tactical situation. Its overall survivability and good armor make this giant British ship a very difficult target to destroy.

Take your place on the command bridge of the legendary HMS Rodney, choose your direction, and become one of its main defenders or, on the contrary, a relentless attaker!

IAR-81C (Rank III)

Historical Note

The Romanian aircraft manufacturer IAR, which initially operated under licenses and government contracts, had accumulated enough experience by the end of the 1930s to create its own IAR-80 fighter aircraft. After Romania entered World War II, the IAR-81 dive bomber was developed based on the IAR-80 series. It was equipped with a bomb rack for a 225-kg bomb, but in most cases the aircraft continued to be used as a fighter.

After the war, the IAR-81 remained in service with the Romanian Air Force until the early 1950s, when it was replaced by Soviet-made aircraft.

SWOT Analysis

  • Strengths: 20-mm cannons, suspended armament, good maneuverability.
  • Weaknesses: low speed.
  • Opportunities: combat at medium and low altitudes, assault, hunting for assault aircraft.
  • Threats: fighters.

In battle

The IAR-81C is a representative of the exotic Romanian aviation. It is an aircraft with average speed characteristics that performs best in dogfights at medium and low altitudes, while its suspended armament allows it to destroy small ground targets.

The first Romanian aircraft in the game is armed with a pair of 20-mm cannons and rifle-caliber machine guns. These are more than enough to deal with any enemy. Also, the IAR-81C can carry some decent assault weapons for small ground targets—one 250-kg or a couple of 50-kg bombs, as well as German Wfr.Gr.21 missiles.

The IAR-81C is a rather unusual aircraft with a large wing area and advanced wing mechanization. It is well balanced and does not roll in horizontal turns at extremely low speeds. However, the IAR-81C suffers from low speed and poor climb rate. That is why the enemy must be lured into turning battles at low and medium altitudes and low speeds. The IAR-81C can also be successful in hunting enemy assault aircraft and small bombers, most of which it can easily catch up with.
