Historical note

The USS Iowa (BB-61), the lead ship of the Iowa-class battleships, entered service on February 22, 1943. A legendary vessel, she served through World War II, the Korean War, and the Cold War before being decommissioned in the 1990s. In 2006, the USS Iowa was transformed into a museum and now resides at the Port of Los Angeles, open to the public.
