[Coming Soon] Missile frigate Brandenburg: vertical launch

The German frigate Brandenburg is coming in the next seasonal update, featuring rapid firing guided missiles for enhanced firepower!

Historical note

To replace the aging Hamburg-class destroyers, Blohm+Voss developed a modular ship concept alongside the construction of the Bremen-class missile frigates. This approach aimed to make maintenance and equipment upgrades faster, cheaper, and more convenient than traditional modernization methods. The German government was highly interested in the project, leading to the substitution of some planned Bremen-class ships with the new class. The lead ship of this series, the frigate Brandenburg, was laid down in 1992.

By 1996, four frigates of the new class had been built, tested, and commissioned into service. All Brandenburg-class ships remain active in the German Navy today.

Brandenburg (Rank VI)

Introducing the new Rank VI German missile destroyer, arriving in the upcoming War Thunder Mobile update! While it closely resembles its predecessor, the missile destroyer Bremen, this ship stands out with its upgraded armament and faster missile launch preparation. Let’s dive into the details!

The primary armament of the new ship includes Exocet MM38 and RIM7 Sea Sparrow guided missiles. The Sea Sparrows are housed in vertical launchers, allowing for faster reloading compared to traditional launchers. This means that, while the missile damage remains similar, the Brandenburg can fire more missiles in less time!

The Italian 76mm autocannon from the OTO Melara series is mounted on the bow, offering rapid-fire capabilities ideal for close-range combat. Additionally, the ship is equipped with 18 powerful 324mm torpedoes, launched from two tubes integrated into the sides of the hull. To maximize the impact of your torpedo salvos, aim at targets directly ahead or at a slight angle for better precision.

🛈 Remember to bring a supply of countermeasures to defend against enemy anti-ship missiles (ASMs). If you're using a lower-ranked ship without countermeasures, or if you're reloading and need more time, stay close to a teammate on a missile ship. By diverting ASMs fired at them, they can help protect you too.

The Brandenburg’s high-damage, guided weaponry makes it one of the most important ships on the battlefield. While it may lack maneuverability and durability – making it vulnerable to battleships that can take it out with one or two well-placed salvos – its modern guided missiles give commanders a strategic edge. Attack from behind cover, reposition frequently, and use islands, rocks, or smoke screens to stay hidden. The Brandenburg is the ultimate ship for bold and highly skilled players!

The Brandenburg (Rank VI) is available after you reach level 29* in the ship campaign. You can upgrade the campaign level for Golden Eagles instantly to gain access to this ship faster than other players, or you can level up in battle.

Please remember that as soon as Campaign Level 30 becomes available, Level 29, 29* and 29** platoons will merge into a single Level 29. Vehicles purchased for Golden Eagles will remain as a premium even after the levels are merged. The final coefficients on the three vehicles will be the same as the level 29 vehicles.
