Platoon FIAT 6614 (Rank V)

Historical note

In 1972, the Fiat company together with OTO Melara presented a prototype of a light armored personnel carrier with a IVECO diesel engine, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 100 km/h. The vehicle could carry 3 to 10 soldiers in the troop compartment.

A whole family of light combat vehicles was developed on the basis of this chassis, one of which was a variant with a 106 mm American M40A1 recoilless rifle. This variant, however, was not adopted, as this gun was already used on other vehicles in the Italian Army, and the gun itself was already becoming obsolete.

FIAT 6614

In War Thunder Mobile, the light FIAT 6614 will lead a new platoon of Italian armored vehicles at Rank V. This incredible combination of breakneck speed and a powerful gun will not leave any fan of tank combat indifferent!

The FIAT 6614 is a light combat support vehicle with a recoilless 106 mm gun. Its all-wheel drive chassis has a good power-to-weight ratio, accelerating the vehicle up to 100 km/h on paved roads. The FIAT is also quite good when driving off-road, where its speed will be lower, but thanks to its light weight it can quickly cross mud, snow, sand and potholes.

The 106 mm gun fires two types of ammunition – HESH shells and AT grenades with a shaped charge explosive. The latter can penetrate homogeneous armor of any enemy up to and including rank VI. However, you may encounter problems when facing anti-HEAT armor, such as spaced, combined or reactive armor.

As the gun is placed on the roof of the vehicle, you can shoot at enemy tanks from cover with little to no risk. The main gun is complemented with a coaxial machine gun with the same ballistics as the shells, making it easy to aim. It is important to remember, however, that the M40 gun has an extremely slow turret rotation speed. Sometimes you will have to turn the hull, and due to the special design of this gun, shell velocity is rather slow.

M26A1

When you need armor, take the “Pershing”! A classic late medium tank with a good gun and armor. It copes well with defensive positions, and in urban battles will be able to show its stronger side.

M109G

Another American vehicle that is in service with Italy is the M109G featuring a short 155 mm caliber howitzer. It is a brutal gun with two types of HE shells – regular and a proximity-fuze shell for firing at aircraft.

Leopard 40/70

The well-known 40 mm Bofors autocannon on the chassis of the famous Leopard 1 tank. The result is a very mobile SPAAG which can also be used as a scout.
