An American A-26B-50 strike aircraft with 14 (fourteen!) forward-firing machine guns!

Historical Note

In 1940, Douglas designers began development of a new promising aircraft, which in various modifications could perform the tasks of a light bomber, night heavy fighter and a striker. The first flight of the prototype took place on July 10, 1942. However, due to difficulties and contradictions with the state customer, serial production was consistently postponed.

The A-26 Invader began to be used in battles from 1944. The A-26B-50-DL modification was a striker with pylons for suspending HVAR unguided rockets and with reinforced forward-firing weapons - three machine guns were located in the wing consoles, 8 more were mounted in the nose fairing.

In battle

The assault modification of the legendary A-26 Invader comes to War Thunder Mobile! Good survivability, decent forward-firing weapons, two remote-controlled turrets and as many as 14 Browning large-caliber machine guns!

The Invader is well suited for assault and bombing raids. It can carry 14 large HVAR rockets on pylons, and the bomb bay can hold up to 4,000 pounds of bombs. At the same time, the aircraft is fast and survivable enough - fuel tanks are protected and the cockpit is defended by anti-bullet armor.

One of the main features of the A-26B-50 is a powerful forward-firing weapons of 14 large-caliber machine guns: six are placed in the wing, eight more in the nose. A tight stream of machine gun bullets will tear to shreds any aircraft or light armored vehicles that are in the sights of the Invader!

Despite its class-leading speed, the A-26B-50 usually has no chance to evade pursuing fighters. You'll have to take fight! One gunner controls two remote turrets with a pair of large-caliber Brownings in each - one turret on top of the fuselage, one on the bottom. There is a chance to win, but it is better to avoid encounters with fighters.

The Premium variant of the ♠︎A-26B-50♠︎ is an extra plane for your roster! The premium warplane maintains the same performance as the standard variant, though it comes in a unique camouflage. With this premium warplane you’ll be able to enjoy faster Silver Lion and Research Point gains, and earn some Golden Eagles in your battles.

If you’re lucky enough to unlock both the premium and the standard variants, you will be able to use them both in the same battle!

To unlock the standard warplane, you need to collect 1,000 blueprints.

Here’s how you can get them:

In Medium Trophy: Chance to receive 700 aircraft blueprints in the jackpot, or 10 to 100 per attempt. Each attempt also grants a small chance to unlock the aircraft instantly.
In Big Trophy: Chance to receive 700 aircraft blueprints, or 80 to 200 blueprints per attempt.
Via the in-game store: Getting the Blueprints Folder for Silver Lions grants a chance to receive some blueprints for the standard variant even after the season ends.

Every Big Trophy attempt has a minor chance to unlock the plane instantly.
By reaching the top-10 in the Aircraft Leaderboard.
