The missile destroyer Hatakaze remains in service with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
At the end of World War II, destroyers became less relevant on the battlefield. However, within two decades, ships of similar design were repurposed as guided missile carriers, tasked with protecting allied fleets from aircraft, submarines, and enemy vessels.
Launched in the 1980s, the Hatakaze project marked Japan's third generation of missile destroyers. These ships were armed with American missile systems, artillery, and torpedo tubes. In the early 2020s, both were converted to training vessels.
Prepare for the arrival of the JDS Hatakaze in the upcoming WTM Seasonal update! This modern Japanese missile destroyer is equipped with impressive guided missiles, backed by autocannons for close-range engagements and torpedo launchers for added firepower.
Experienced naval commanders will recognize the JDS Hatakaze's main armament: Harpoon and Standard guided missile launchers. These missiles are highly maneuverable, effective at long range, and inflict substantial damage, allowing them to penetrate the defenses of even the most heavily armored vessels.
For secondary armament, the JDS Hatakaze features two 127mm automatic universal artillery mounts, providing effective close-range defense. Completing the arsenal are two triple torpedo launchers, ready for deployment.
The JDS Hatakaze is set to be one of the most versatile destroyers in its class. Compared to other missile destroyers, the ship is quite durable. The only serious drawback will be her single-arm Standard missile launcher.
Utilize the ship's ECM systems, smoke screens, and support from allies to safely navigate between islands, minimize damage, or buy time to repair the ship.
JDS Hatakaze commanders must exercise caution and avoid large-caliber naval gun hits whenever possible.
*Vehicle specifications and camouflages are still a work in progress and may change upon release.
The JDS Hatakaze (Rank VI) will be introduced in the upcoming seasonal update of War Thunder Mobile.
