🧰 The Big Trophy contains a double-barrel rocket launcher with an automatic loader on a mobile tracked chassis!
In the late 1960s, Oerlikon presented a prototype of the HS.30 mit Zwillings-Raketenautomat Oerlikon 8cm combat vehicle for testing. It had a turret with two 81mm caliber rocket launchers mounted on an HS.30 tracked APC chassis.
A special feature of vehicle was an autoloader drum magazine, allowing the vehicle to fire at a rate of up to 300 rounds per minute. The 81mm rockets that could be fired were either HEAT or HE.
Despite its high rate of fire, the prototype was not adopted by the German Army due to its limited armament and complex design. Potential foreign operators were not interested either.
The tagline of the new Rank VII German platoon is mobility and damage! Its leader, the Raketenautomat, is characterized by two recoilless rocket launchers, an automatic drum magazine and a compact tracked chassis.
The pair of recoilless guns are mounted on the top of the tracked, all-terrain chassis. If you’re able to find a good cover spot where you only need to expose the launchers, it will be very difficult for your enemies to do much damage to you!
The shells are fed into the rocket launchers from an autoloading 18-shot drum magazine. The Raketenautomat fires them at a very high rate of fire. The commander can choose between HE or HEAT rockets. It’s worth remembering that it takes some time to replenish the ammunition, so it’s worth thinking in advance about a safe place for reloading.
The Raketenautomat is built on the chassis of an all-terrain vehicle. The tracked compact platform has quite good mobility, although it loses to most light tanks in speed. The armor of the vehicle is light, so it’s recommended to play from ambush spots or with help from allies.
Here come the teammates of this German two-barrel rocket vehicle!
After the popularization of HEAT shells, using very heavy homogeneous armor became redundant. So came the Leopard, a German tank with excellent mobility and great firepower. “Leo” lives and wins only when it moves!
This is another tank destroyer that can conveniently hide behind cover! However, instead of two recoilless launchers, it has two SS.11 guided missiles.
A versatile scout, the compact and fast Marder 1A3 IFV features a 20mm autocannon and MILAN anti-tank guided missiles.
*Platoon vehicle lineup, vehicle specifications and camouflages are still under development and may differ from those in this article.
The Raketenautomat Platoon (Rank VII) will be available from the Big Trophy of the Tank Campaign or from an offer after the start of the Season.
