Start of Aircraft Closed Beta Testing!

Closed testing of a separate aircraft mode in War Thunder Mobile.

On April 23, 2024 at 11:00 (GMT), closed testing of the aircraft mode begins. Commanders who are willing to do regular combat fly-outs to detect malfunctions in the flight control system as well as navigation, weapons and defense systems can apply through the game. The first group of pilots will have access to the CBT soon!

Closed beta testing tasks

Commanders, during the CBT you will be able to test the real vehicles of the new campaign in battles and report all problems, inaccuracies and any discomfort in controlling the planes. We will collect and study your feedback and concerns to make the game comfortable, interesting and balanced for you.

You can give feedback and comments on the controls in a special chat room in Discord or Telegram, or through the game. Please provide the most detailed information on the bugs of the aircraft campaign in special topics and leave detailed feedback about the CBT only. Other feedback about the game can be left in Discord chat, and information about bugs – on the website.

How to apply for participation

To participate in the СBT you need to locate the button in the left menu of the Hangar that looks like an airplane, go to the testing window and submit an application. The system will randomly approve applications as needed.

If your application is approved – it may not happen instantly, but during the entire testing period – you will receive a notification in the game, and the interface in the testing window will change. The "To battle!" button will become available or a schedule of test sessions will appear. Testing may be interrupted to finalize the mode, but if you have already received an invitation, it will be active until the end of the СBT.

Stages of the Closed Beta Test

The aircraft СBT will be run in several stages. In the first stage, biplanes of Rank I in the maps "Winter Stalingrad" and "Zhengzhou" will be tested with a minimum number of invited participants.

The duration of each stage is determined by the developers and may vary. There may be breaks between "sessions". Follow the information in the game and on the website to keep up to date with the current changes and schedule.

  • testing of the Rank I aircraft – F3F-2, He 51 C-1, I-15 WR;
  • testing of the Rank II aircraft – P-51C-10, La-5, Il-4, SB2C-4;
  • testing of the Rank IV aircraft – B-17G, as well as vehicles from the "Preparing for Departure" preorder packs – FW 190 C, Yak-3T and P-38K;
  • mixed testing – players will be randomly placed into battles on vehicles according to their rank and power.

The number of participants will increase with the progression of the CBT stages, so more and more players will be able to take part in the testing.

How to access the Closed Beta testing?

  • after approval of the СBT request submitted from the game;
  • as a gift when pre-ordering unique aircraft from the "Prepare for Departure" packs for the OBT;
  • winning in the contests on social networks.

At some stages of testing, players will have the opportunity to fly on Rank IV vehicles from the "Prepare for Departure" series. It is not possible to get this vehicle after the end of the СBT.

The unique pre-order airplanes in the "Prepare for Departure" series

FW 190 C (Rank IV)

Experimental modification of the German single-engine fighter with good controllability at high speeds. Suitable for high-speed attacks from altitude or on passes. Solid ammo makes it a dangerous opponent.

Important: All vehicles available for testing are not upgradable and are not given to the player's hangar during the CBT – the interface for selecting vehicles for battles is similar to the interface for selecting ponies during the April Day event. After the end of the CBT the access to the test vehicles will be closed. The pre-ordered vehicles will be waiting for pilots in hangars after the start of the OBT.

Rewards for participation in the testing

For participating in the СBT and helping to gather feedback and comments, players who have had at least a few fly-outs will receive a unique title and medal in their player profile.

Issues Accepted for development

Based on your wishes and comments collected during the April Day event, we have started to work on improving the aircraft mode. Some of the changes are already available for the beginning of the CBT. Here are some of the tasks we are already working on, but they are not implemented for the start of the CBT yet:

  • gyroscope control of airplanes;
  • virtual joystick control;
  • tutorial;
  • possibility to change the size of the interface buttons.

The list of tasks in progress will be expanding. Please do not duplicate requests to implement features that are already in progress.

*Final interface, vehicles and appearance of locations may be different from those shown in the screenshots.

We wish you clear skies and a great experience, commanders!
