[Coming Soon] Chieftain Mk.10: Conquerors of the Sands

Allow us to introduce the new British Rank IX platoon that will be available in the upcoming major War Thunder Mobile update!

Chieftain Mk.10 Platoon (Rank IX)

The modernization to the Mark 10 level represented a significant advancement in the Chieftain series of main battle tanks. Despite the introduction of Challenger tanks by the mid-1980s, it was too early to write off the Chieftain. To enhance their capabilities, the Stillbrew defense kit was developed, greatly enhancing the protection of the Chieftain tanks. Additionally, the 9th and 10th generations of these tanks featured improved electronics and powerplants compared to earlier versions. The inclusion of an additional armor package extended the service life of the entire series by several years, with the last Chieftain tanks remaining in service until 1995.

Chieftain Mk.10

The standout feature of the new Chieftain Mk.10 is its Stillbrew composite armor. Consisting of sheets of homogeneous armor with thick rubber inserts between them, this armor was specially designed to protect the tank crew. With this upgrade, the Chieftain turret is now resistant to all but the most powerful shaped charge shells and rockets. Its overlay armor excels particularly against kinetic shots. When strategically positioned in cover, the Chieftain Mk.10 transforms into a formidable adversary, capable of withstanding attacks from multiple foes. The key lies in protecting its vulnerable hull!

Another significant advantage of the Chieftain Mk.10 is its 120mm cannon, renowned for its rapid reload time and exceptional armor-piercing sub-caliber projectiles. Capable of accurately targeting any enemy it encounters, this formidable cannon, combined with the tank's robust turret, renders the Chieftain Mk.10 especially potent in long-range engagements. It's in these scenarios that your sniper skills truly shine!

Joining the Chieftain Mk.10 in the new platoon are three South African armored fighting vehicles.

The first companion is the Olifant Mk.2 OPV, which traces its lineage back to the Centurion series of tanks. The tank is equipped with additional armor against shaped charge shells and improved mobility compared to the Centurion. Armed with a licensed copy of the formidable 105mm British L7 gun, the Olifant Mk.2 is equipped with the most effective armor-piercing shells in its caliber!

Not fast enough? Take the Ratel ZT3A2 – a wheeled South African tank fighter! This dynamic fighting vehicle will quickly flank your opponents with tandem anti-tank guided missiles – no enemy will escape unscathed!

The South African Army favors wheeled vehicles! The Rooikat ZA-35 is a wheeled anti-aircraft vehicle that can reach speeds above 100 km/h and is armed with a pair of automatic 35 mm cannons. Beyond its anti-aircraft capabilities, the Rooikat ZA-35 excels in urban combat, posing a significant threat to lightly armored targets and even enemy main battle tanks.

Important:

The Chieftain Mk.10 (Rank IX) becomes accessible once you reach level 16* of the tank campaign. You have the option to instantly upgrade your campaign level using Golden Eagles to gain faster access to this platoon compared to other players, or you can progress through battles to level up.

Please remember that as soon as Campaign Level 17 becomes available, Level 16, 16* and 16** platoons will merge into a single Level 16. Vehicles purchased for Golden Eagles will remain as a premium even after the levels are merged. The final coefficients on the three vehicles will be the same as the level 16 vehicles.
