T-80U Platoon (Rank XI)

Historical note

First prototypes of an improved modification of the T-80 OPV were ready by the early 1980s. After testing and improvements, they were designated the T-80U. The modernization included a new design of the turret and upper frontal part of the hull, as well as the Kontakt-5 dynamic protection system, which provided protection against both HEAT and kinetic shells. The tank received a new FCS and the ability to launch 9M119 guided missiles. Later, the T-80U was equipped with more powerful turboshaft engines.

The T-80U remained in service with the Soviet Army until the USSR breakup, and then entered service with the troops of CIS countries and some foreign countries, including South Korea and Cyprus. A total of about 700 of these vehicles have been produced since 1985.

T-80U

The Soviet main battle tank T-80U will be its leader - dynamic and perfectly armed tank, where the designers have paid high attention to its defense!

The designers tried to improve all aspects of the T-80U. The main gun remains unchanged: it is a 125 mm gun of the 2A46 series. The loader has not changed either - it is a voluminous “carousel” in the center of the crew compartment. And what is new? The new fire control system has made it possible to use powerful 9M119 anti-tank missiles. The tank can also fire HEATFS and HE shells, and two types of APFSDS will be available.

The T-80U turret received the latest for those times cellular filler of combined defense. The same complex composite combined plate appeared on the upper frontal part of the hull. Moreover, the T-80U was one of the first Soviet MBTs to be fitted with “Kontakt-5” dynamic defense modules. These units, unlike earlier models, provide protection not only against HEAT, but also against kinetic shells! The T-80U will be one of the most protected tanks in the game, which will give its commanders an advantage in battle.

The T-80U has become noticeably heavier. To compensate for the increased weight, the tank received a more powerful engine. The vehicle is dynamic and very fast, but the reverse speed of the T-80U is rather low.

The T-80U is a completely versatile main battle tank with excellent combat characteristics. But even it can't fight alone. Introducing the other vehicles of the platoon!

T-90A

The versatile T-90A MBT is slightly inferior to the platoon leader in dynamics and defense, but has a bit more powerful APFSDS and more advanced tandem ATGMs. It also comes with a working Shtora-1 infrared anti-tank guided missile jamming system that throws enemy guided missiles off course!

2S25M

The 2S25M amphibious assault vehicle has high firepower and good running characteristics. It is an excellent choice for the role of a mobile sniper or scout.

ZSU 23-4

Here comes the SPAAG! The famous light machine with four 23mm cannons is capable of firing 3400 rounds per minute. HE shells eliminate aircraft, APHE shells destroy light armored vehicles. Great cover for allies!
