[Coming Soon] The battlecruiser Renown: Versatile warrior

🧰 The Big Trophy includes the British battlecruiser HMS Renown, a battle-tested veteran of naval warfare.

Historical note

Renown, the lead ship of a two-battlecruiser series, was built at the end of World War I. During World War II, she saw extensive service, supporting the Maltese and Arctic convoys, covering Allied landings in Africa, and participating in the hunts for Admiral Graf Spee and Bismarck. As the flagship of the Eastern Fleet, she also served in the Indian Ocean.

At the war’s end, Renown was honored as the flagship of the Metropolitan Fleet. She was decommissioned in 1946 and scrapped two years later.

The British battlecruiser HMS Renown offers a powerful main battery, solid defense, and impressive speed!

HMS Renown is equipped with six 381 mm guns housed in three turrets, with two positioned at the bow, allowing for effective forward-facing fire. These powerful guns excel at short and medium ranges, capable of penetrating any opponent on the battlefield.

HMS Renown's secondary armament includes 20 dual-purpose 114 mm guns, with 10 mounted on each side. These guns have a significantly higher rate of fire than the main battery, making them effective against light vessels and in close-range engagements. The ship's arsenal is further enhanced by 533 mm torpedoes and a robust air defense system.

The battlecruiser boasts impressive speed and maneuverability for its class but sacrifices some defensive capabilities as a trade-off.

Nevertheless, HMS Renown holds its own against cruisers and can effectively engage battleships in long-range combat.
