The Leopard 2AV was an evolution of the Leopard 2K project. With the consultation of American specialists, it was upgraded to meet modern protection standards, which by the early 1970s had become outdated. The prototype was entered into a U.S. Army competition, where it competed against the XM-1 models at the Aberdeen Proving Ground.
After testing, the original 105mm L7A3 gun was replaced with a 120mm gun produced by Rheinmetall. This modification laid the foundation for the mass-produced Leopard 2A4.
In the game, the Leopard 2AV represents a significant upgrade from the first-generation Leopards to the second. While it retains the 105mm British L7-series cannon, it offers improved mobility and more reliable protection, similar to the Leopard 2 series.
The Leopard 2AV is equipped with a variety of ammunition, including HESH shells for "soft" targets and two types of APFSDS for engaging heavily armored enemies.
The Leopard 2AV is a fast and dynamic tank, featuring an accurate gun and strong protection, particularly in the front of the turret.
Let's meet the other vehicles in the platoon, shall we?
The Canadian variant of the Leopard 1 family features an advanced fire control system (FCS) and MEXAS-H composite armor. This fast tank offers strong protection against HEAT shells and missiles and is equipped with excellent AP shells.
This is an intriguing upgrade of the American M48 series tanks, featuring a new fire control system, enhanced APFSDS penetration, and additional armor modules on the cannon mask and turret sides.
One of the best SPAAGs at its rank, featuring high mobility and fast-firing 35mm cannons with ammo belts capable of targeting both air and ground enemies!
The heavy cruiser Dupleix entered service in 1932, participating in parades and maneuvers until the outbreak of World War II. In the early years of the war, she hunted down German ships, supported Allied operations in North Africa, and took part in the blockade of Dakar.
The cruiser underwent several modernizations throughout its service. In 1940, it participated in the bombing of Genoa. In 1942, as German forces invaded France, the cruiser’s crew sank the ship to prevent its capture by the enemy. Although the Italians raised the Dupleix in 1943, they were never able to repair it. Finally, in 1944, the cruiser was destroyed by an Allied air strike.
The cruiser’s main armament consists of eight 203-mm guns in four turrets, while its auxiliary armament includes eight 90-mm guns. The guns reload relatively quickly and deliver consistent damage.
The Dupleix cruiser boasts good speed, prioritizing firepower over defense. Its primary tactical strength lies in the "Hit, Run, Repeat" approach, allowing it to strike effectively and quickly reposition.
At the end of World War II, U.S. command needed a long-range escort aircraft for B-29 bombers. North American Aviation company proposed an unconventional solution: a twin-fuselage aircraft with two pilots, an extended fuel supply, and a powerful machine gun battery.
Despite the project’s approval, the first XP-82 prototype did not fly until June 26, 1945, after the war had ended. As a result, the production order was reduced from 700 to 270 aircraft. The E modification, featuring new Allison engines, was introduced soon after. However, with the rise of jet aircraft, all Twin Mustangs were decommissioned by the U.S. Air Force by 1953.
