“Object 775” Platoon (Rank VIII)

Historical note

The development of an experimental missile tank started in the early 1960s at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant. The two built prototypes represented a low profile tank with the option to launch “Rubin” ATGMs from the barrel channel. Due to the shift in development priorities towards a new MBT (the future T-64A), the project was closed in 1968. The survived Object 775 prototype is exhibited in the collection of the Patriot Park.

Object 775

The "Object 775" became the first Soviet tank with the technology to launch guided missiles from the gun barrel channel. The main shells of the "Object 775" are Rubin ATGMs with good armor penetration rates but low damage. They should be aimed at vital modules: ammunition bins, fuel tanks, the breech block of tank guns and the crews' workplaces.

The “Object 775” cannon is fed from the automatic loader, which provides a high fire rate.

One of the main features of the tank will be its unusual shape: wide and low hull and low dome-shaped turret will allow you to hide the tank behind low cover. The tank is well protected - much better than other ATGM-carriers on its rank. Specific hull, rounded turret and sharp convergence angle of the hull frontal plates give a good chance for ricochets. The "Object 775" is quite fast and agile tank, although the reverse speed is very low - you can't hide behind cover quickly.

T-62M-1

The T-62M-1 modification was a deep modernization of the T-62 tank: the vehicle received reinforced armor, a new powerful engine and the option of launching ATGMs. A harmonious MBT with an emphasis on defense.

T-55AM-1

Another late modernization of the Soviet medium tank, which completely changes its combat effectiveness: enhanced protection with overlapping turret armor, APFSDS and ATGM from the barrel channel, good dynamics and rate of fire. A versatile fighter!

ZSU-37-2

Zara (Rank II)

Historical note

The Italian Zara class cruisers were designed as a more protected version of the previous Trento series. All four ships planned for construction were completed by 1932. With the outbreak of World War II, cruisers of this class took an active part in the battles in the Mediterranean.

The cruisers Zara, Pola and Fiume, along with other Italian ships, encountered a British fleet at Cape Matapan while defending the Italian coast against the Allied landings in Italy in March 1941. All three Zara-class cruisers that took part in the battle were sunk in the night battle.

The main caliber of the cruiser Zara will be 8 203 mm fast-firing guns in four turrets. The auxiliary caliber consists of 12 100mm multipurpose guns, three coaxials mounts on each side.

Defense is one of the main advantages of the Zara class ships. In terms of armor thickness, these Italian cruisers have one of the best values in their class and are able to effectively resist any enemy ships except battleships. Massive armor, however, has not harmed mobility – Zara is quite quick to turn, and at maximum speed can even compete with light cruisers!

TIS-MA (Rank V)

Historical note

In November 1938, the Polikarpov Design Bureau received a request to create a Heavy Escort Fighter. Work on it at last began two years later, but by that time the requirements had changed: from the role of escort fighter it was to become an interceptor, dive-bomber and even a recon unit.

The prototype of the machine that met the requirements was designated TIS A and first flew in the sky in September 1941. By October 1943, after many modifications, the TIS MA prototype was completed, which met the expectations of the designers. However, for a number of reasons, work on the project was terminated in September 1944.

SWOT Analysis

• Strengths: very powerful forward-firing weapons, can shoot tanks, has bombs.
• Weaknesses: pretty poor top speed.
• Opportunities: easily destroys any aircraft; penetrates ground units well.
• Threats: fast fighters.

The TIS MA has some of the most powerful forward-firing weapons. A pair of 20 mm autocannons is complemented by a pair of 45 mm autocannons. The TIS MA destroys almost instantly any aircraft in its crosshairs, from fighters to the largest bombers. The larger the caliber, the smaller the number of rounds that can be stored, but the damage varies markedly. The TIS MA will easily cut down any enemy even with armor-piercing belts, and large-caliber autocannons have no problem to penetrate the armor of ground units. This amazing cannon arsenal can be reinforced with suspended bombs of up to 500 kg or unguided missiles.

Although the TIS MA is a heavy aircraft, due to its powerful engines and excellent low-altitude controllability, the pilot will have a chance to fend off fighters – the gunner behind the 12.7mm UBT machine gun will also help them.
