[Coming Soon] AMX-32: Four Brave Warriors

The AMX-32 is an export variant of the French AMX-30 MBT with a powerful 120mm main gun and a coaxial 20mm autocannon!

AMX-32 Platoon (Rank VIII)

Historical note

Development of an export modification of the AMX-30 main battle tank began in France in 1975. The AMX-32 appeared in 1981, equipped with a more powerful 120 mm gun, a modern fire control system, advanced electronic devices, a semi-automatic gearbox and improved protection against high explosive rounds.

Despite efforts from designers, the AMX-32 proved to be too expensive both for foreign operators and for the needs of the French Army. Nevertheless, the work was not in vain, as many technological solutions formed the basis for the development of the more advanced AMX-40 and were also used in the modernization of AMX-30 tanks.

In our game, the AMX-32 will be the leader of a new Rank VIII platoon which will appear in War Thunder Mobile with the release of the next seasonal update. This is a tank with light armor, but an excellent gun. Let’s take a closer look at this newcomer and try to determine the best tactics for winning with it!

AMX-32

The main advantage of the new AMX-32 is its firepower. There is only two ammo types for the stabilized 120mm smoothbore gun – HEATFS and APFSDS. However, both shells are extremely effective and are suitable for destroying any armored vehicles: from the best MBTs at this rank to the lightest and most annoying SPAAGs.

The main gun is backed up by a coaxial 20mm autocannon. It is effective for destroying scout vehicles and distracting heavy enemies while the main gun is reloading. It is also worth noting the high turret rotation speed – a very important feature for close-range combat.

One objective of the AMX-32 project was to improve the protection of the frankly quite vulnerable AMX-30. The AMX-32 has some improvements, with the turret and hull protection now being reinforced with spaced armor, which effectively reduces damage from HEAT and ATGMs.

However, protection against kinetic shells has barely increased. Therefore, the commander should avoid damage at all costs, either by attacking from cover with the possibility of hiding, or by relying on quick attacks and the high damage output of its 120mm shells.

No matter how good the AMX-32 is, it's difficult to fight alone. Let's take a look at the other members of this new French platoon!

AMX-30B2

One of the most well-known modifications of the AMX-30 main battle tank. In the game it is perfect for sniping at long ranges with its accurate 105mm cannon and effective APFSDS.

SK-105A2

The SK-105A2 light tank features an oscillating turret with a drum-type loader for its formidable 105mm cannon. It has almost no armor, but it can do a lot of damage – and it’s fast!

AMX-30 S DCA

This is a SPAAG on the AMX-30B chassis, which is fast and well protected against low-caliber shells. It is equipped with two 30mm belt-fed autocannons.

*Platoon vehicle lineup, vehicle specifications and camouflages are still under development and may differ from those in this article.

The AMX-32 Platoon (Rank VIII) will be available from the Big Trophy of the Tank Campaign or from an offer after the start of the Season.
