Historical note

In 1910, the U.S. Navy decided to modernize its dreadnoughts. The design of a new type, Nevada, was part of this strategy. The USS Nevada was planned as an improved version of the battleship New York, with three-gun main gun turrets, liquid-fueled boilers, and enhanced protection of vital nodes. Construction started in 1912, and the new ship was launched two years later.

The battleship officially joined the U.S. Navy in 1916, in the midst of World War I. USS Nevada took part in it after the USA joined the war in 1917. The interwar period was a time of diplomatic missions and modernizations. World War II found the battleship at Pearl Harbor, where the battleship was severely damaged but managed to destroy several Japanese aircraft. After a major overhaul in 1942, USS Nevada was back on active duty.

The ship saw action in many significant battles of World War II, including the Aleutian Campaign, the Allied landings in Normandy, and the battles for the Japanese islands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After the end of the war, USS Nevada was used as a target ship for testing atomic bombs and artillery shells.

In the upcoming War Thunder Mobile update, the superbly armed and protected American battleship USS Nevada will appear at fleet Rank IV, joining the line of the strongest ships in the game!

The main caliber of the USS Nevada is 10 guns of 356 mm caliber in four turrets, which have good firing sectors and allow for a full onboard salvo. Two of the four turrets are three-gun turrets. USS Nevada was the first battleship in the American Navy with this number of turrets. Later on, it became the standard for ships of its class. Auxiliary caliber – eight mounts with 127 mm caliber guns, two barrels each. Unlike most pre-war battleships, USS Nevada has good anti-aircraft artillery – 40mm Bofors can easily cope with enemy aircraft.

Naturally, you can't expect much speed from this floating bastion. The ship is quite slow, with a large turning radius. Consider the route and direction at the very beginning of the battle – you will not be able to quickly change flank on this giant!

The armor of the battleship is made according to the principle of “all or nothing”: all vital nodes are protected to the maximum, and the areas that will not lead to the immediate destruction of the ship are practically unprotected. Only battleships can penetrate the armor of the USS Nevada. The ship can easily withstand enemy fire even from several rivals at once.
