Bhishma TWMP Platoon (Rank X)

Historical note

In 2001, India and Russia signed an agreement for the supply of 310 T-90S tanks, specially modified for the Indian armed forces. Under the agreement, 124 vehicles were delivered ready-made, while the remaining 186 were assembled from Russian components at the Avadi factory (Tamil Nadu state). The modernization affected key design elements: radiation protection was strengthened, the Shtora-1 system was removed, and an infrared searchlight was installed. The tanks accepted into service by the Indian Army were given the symbolic name “Bhishma” in honor of the legendary warrior from the ancient Indian epic “Mahabharata”.

Bhishma TWMP

The Bhishma tank is a Russian T-90S adapted to the requirements of the Indian Armed Forces with enhanced protection provided by extra Kontakt-5 ERA blocks. The TWMP version is a further development of the vehicle, featuring a mine plough in the front of the hull.

In the high-capacity mechanized ammunition load, commanders will find several types of shells: HEATFS, HE-TF, a decent APFSDS, as well as ATGM (tandem).

The Bhishma TWMP is a well-balanced and highly effective rank X tank. The vehicle has fairly high firepower, very good armor, and not bad speed. British commanders, however, will have to get used to its signature flaw: low reverse speed, which prevents it from quickly retreating after firing and forces it to fight on the move in close-range duels.

Here are the other warriors of the new platoon – let's take a look at these gentlemen!

Challenger DS

The famous Challenger in “Desert Rats” camouflage used during the Desert Storm operation. This modification features lighter armor on the hull sides, which increases the vehicle's mobility. The Challenger DS has excellent turret armor, a good gun with a really high firing rate, and effective APFSDS for confidently taking out any enemy on the battlefield.

Desert Warrior

What would a top British platoon be without its trusted Desert Warrior? An excellent mobile IFV with an automatic gun and TOW-2 guided missiles, including the TOW-2B modification with a top-attack profile!

Chieftain Marksman

The platoon's SPAA is the Chieftain Marksman. Built on a tank chassis, with a combat module featuring a pair of 35-mm automatic cannons, with armor-piercing rounds for destroying light vehicles or tank sides!

RN Leonardo da Vinci (Rank III)

Historical note

The battleship RN Leonardo da Vinci was one of three Conte di Cavour-class ships built to reinforcement the Italian fleet before World War I. These battleships were supposed to exceed Dante Alighieri, Italy's first dreadnought, with more powerful 305-mm guns and increased displacement.

Leonardo da Vinci was put into service in May 1914, but the ship's combat career was not long – she spent most of her time in Taranto, never taking part in any battles. In August 1916, she fell victim to an internal explosion due to spontaneous ignition of the main armament propellant charges. Although it was lifted in 1919, further repairs and modernization were abandoned due to the high cost, and in 1923, the Leonardo da Vinci was sent to be scrapped.

In battle

The Italian battleship Leonardo da Vinci is notable for its good armament and decent armor, but it is poorly protected against air attacks and does not have the best speed. Let's take a closer look!

The first thing that catches the eye when looking at the RN Leonardo da Vinci is its impressive battery of guns. The ship has a total of 5 main towers and 13 305-mm guns! In addition, each side of the RN Leonardo da Vinci is armed with 9 120-mm auxiliary cannons, which are particularly effective at short ranges. Like many early battleships, the RN Leonardo da Vinci also has torpedo tubes – another argument in favor of close combat. AA armament consists only of non-automatic 76-mm cannons on the roofs of the main turrets – the rate of fire is low, but gunners can engage the enemy at long ranges.

The RN Leonardo da Vinci's armor is decent for its rank, with maximum armor thickness in the front of the turrets. The battleship is capable of withstanding intense fire for long periods of time.

The RN Leonardo da Vinci was built before World War I, so the ship's powersystem is not very impressive. The massive ship's speed is low and its turning radius is large, so commanders will have to plan their route in advance and try to avoid maneuvering battles.

In battle, the RN Leonardo da Vinci relies on its impressive arsenal, but its low speed and somewhat ineffective AA battery prevent it from operating solo. Keep your allies close for cover from focused attacks from the enemy team and aircraft, pick out and destroy the most dangerous targets – that's how the RN Leonardo da Vinci can become the hero of any battle!

Me 410 B-6/R3 (Rank VI)

Historical note

The Messerschmitt Me 410 Hornisse (“Hornet”) was an attempt to revive the unsuccessful Me 210 program, receiving a new designation as a symbol of a radical redesign. The developers eliminated the main weaknesses of its predecessor by installing more powerful engines and completely redesigning the aerodynamic concept. The aircraft retained its two-seat layout (pilot and radio operator) and versatility, combining the qualities of a heavy fighter, high-speed bomber, and scout.

The Me 410 B-6/R3 modification was equipped with radar and a R3 set of two 30-mm autocannons in the under fuselage nacelle and was intended for intercepting Allied bombers at night. It proved to be an effective interceptor but was vulnerable to maneuverable escort fighters. Its relatively short combat career (1943-1944) was caused by both the Luftwaffe's strategic reorientation toward defending the Reich and the growing superiority of Allied aviation.

SWOT Analysis

  • Strengths: powerful cannon armament, two defensive turrets, pretty good speed.
  • Weaknesses: low maneuverability, no suspended weapons.
  • Opportunities: hunting bombers, head-on attacks.
  • Threats: high-speed fighters.

In battle

A sturdy twin-engine fighter – a classic of middle-rank air combat! Meet the Me 410 B-6/R3, Germany's new heavy fighter, the bane of heavy bombers and a master of head-on attacks!

Designed to intercept long-range bombers, the Me 410 B-6/R3 has excellent firepower. All weapons are concentrated in the front of the aircraft: a pair of 20-mm MG 151 cannons are complemented by 30-mm MK 103 cannons. This has a positive effect on fire density and aiming accuracy, and is also ideal for head-on attacks, making this risky tactic one of the keys to success while playing the Me 410 B-6/R3.

The new German twin-engine aircraft has good speed for its class, especially at high altitudes. This feature, combined with excellent armament, makes the Me 410 B-6/R3 an effective hunter of high-altitude bombers!

The “Hornet” is not very maneuverable, so it is best not to get into a dogfight with fighters, but the Me 410 B-6/R3 has a good chance of surprising its pursuers. Firstly, the aircraft's good speed will prevent fighters from catching up with it instantly. Secondly, this new model has two defense turrets with heavy machine guns, which will be a very unpleasant surprise for the enemy!
