The Big and Medium Trophies contain a British fighter with powerful cannons and excellent speed.

Historical Note

In the late 1940s, at the dawn of the Cold War, the Royal Air Force recognized that it was falling behind in jet aviation. There was an urgent need to develop new fighters incorporating cutting-edge solutions such as swept wings. Particular interest centered on the Supermarine Swift project, which evolved from an experimental prototype derived from the production Supermarine Attacker. The new aircraft featured swept wings and tail surfaces.

The initial Swift order totaled 100 aircraft, but technical issues and developmental pressures caused production delays. The Swift F.1 entered service in February 1954 – though by the end of the year, all fighter variants of the Swift had already been replaced by the more capable Hawker Hunter.

Brief Analysis

Strengths: Superior speed and climb rate, rapid-firing 30 mm forward-firing cannons, and effective suspended armament.
Weaknesses: Mediocre manoeuvrability.
Role in battle: A well-armed multirole jet fighter that relies on speed and energy superiority, operating on the "boom-and-zoom" principle.

Rank IX of British aviation in War Thunder Mobile introduces the Swift F.1 – a fast, well-armed fighter capable of dictating the terms of an aerial engagement and striking ground targets with equal effectiveness.

The heart of the Swift F.1 is its powerful Rolls-Royce Avon Mk.105 powerplant, which delivers excellent speed and climb performance – allowing the aircraft to gain altitude quickly and run down most targets at its rank.

The forward-firing armament consists of a pair of 30 mm ADEN cannons. Their large calibre and high rate of fire allow you to cut down virtually any opponent in a single well-placed pass. A welcome bonus for a speed-oriented fighter is its suspended ordnance, which broadens the aircraft's capabilities considerably. In battle, you can carry two 500 or 1,000 lb bombs, as well as RP.3 rockets for engaging ground targets.

Despite its excellent acceleration, the Swift F.1 is outmanoeuvred in sustained turns by more agile opponents, making prolonged turning engagements inadvisable. The Swift's tactics are built around an energy advantage. Gain altitude and work the vertical – your goal is to exploit speed, not to contest the horizontal plane.

Approach your target with a strong energy reserve, fire a short precise burst, and zoom back up to altitude immediately. Once the airspace is clear, strike ground targets and climb again to set up fresh attacks from above.

Order vehicles for Silver Lions after collecting 1,000 blueprints.

Ways to get blueprints:

From the Medium Trophy: 700 pcs in the guaranteed reward, or 10 to 100 pcs per attempt.
From the Big Trophy: 700 pcs in the guaranteed reward, or 80 to 200 pcs per attempt.
In the in-game store: purchase for Silver Lions a Folder with a number of blueprints (even after the season ends).
