Historical Note

The Virginia-class nuclear-powered missile cruisers were the last and most advanced vessels of their kind in the U.S. Navy. Four ships were built, with a fifth initially planned. The lead ship of the class participated in several Middle Eastern conflicts, including Operation Desert Storm, Operation Desert Shield, and the Lebanese Civil War.

The cruiser Virginia, along with the other ships of its class, was retired from the fleet in the mid-1990s due to high maintenance and operational costs.

The nuclear-powered missile cruiser USS Virginia will take its place as the new flagship of the U.S. Navy. This impressive addition will be available for upgrade with the release of the next seasonal game update. Players can look forward to powerful missiles, excellent mobility, and countless exciting battles!

In the game, the USS Virginia is showcased in its late 1970s configuration. As a result, the Tomahawk cruise missiles, introduced in 1984, are not included to maintain balance, though there's no need to be disappointed! The USS Virginia is equipped with two powerful types of guided missiles: the RIM-66 Standard and the RGM-84 Harpoon. These missiles deliver devastating salvos, capable of inflicting significant damage. Countermeasures are your only defense, but many careless commanders neglect to use them in battle.

The USS Virginia is also equipped with two single-barrel 127mm auto-loading guns and torpedo tubes, providing versatile firepower. These features make it a formidable asset in combat!

Although the cruiser's maximum speed is limited to 30 knots (approximately 55 km/h), it boasts excellent maneuverability. This agility makes it well-suited for both cautious gameplay from behind cover and actively supporting an attacking group.

The USS Virginia, like other missile ships in the game, lacks robust protection. Its hull and superstructure are vulnerable and can be easily penetrated by nearly any naval caliber.

The key to success in playing missile ships is to avoid taking damage from artillery, dodge torpedoes, use countermeasures promptly, strike from a distance, and effectively manage the sequence of missile launches.

The USS Virginia will undoubtedly be a formidable force on the battlefield, thanks to its truly impressive arsenal!
