[Coming Soon] Type 16 (FPS): mobile, lightweight, power

🧰 The Big Trophy contains a Japanese platoon led by a wheeled Type 16 (FPS).

Type 16 (FPS) Platoon (Rank IX)

Historical note

In 2007, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries began developing a combat vehicle to enhance the mobility of armored units. The main requirements were to avoid the limitations of tracked vehicles, the ability to respond quickly to invasion threats, and the ability to be transported by sea and air to remote regions. As early as 2008, four prototypes were ordered, and development continued until 2013.

After intensive testing, ended in 2016, the vehicle was officially adopted by the Japan Self-Defense Forces under the designation Type 16 MCV (maneuver combat vehicle). The Type 16 MCV remains in service with the JSDF to this day.

Type 16 (FPS)

The new platoon of Japanese armored vehicles of Rank IX is led by a special version of the Type 16 (FPS) combat vehicle, a representative of the first production series. Three priorities guided the engineers in its design: mobility, firepower and lightness.

The wheeled vehicle turned out to be very fast. In fact, the new Type 16 (FPS) will be one of the fastest armored vehicles in the game! This speed along with high power density makes it a great choice for quick point taking, flanking and unexpected ambushes.

The Type 16 (FPS) is armed with a 105mm cannon with good rate of fire and stabilizer. The main shell for the vehicle will be an effective APFSDS DM23. Other types of ammunition are APFSDS M735, HEATFS, HESH – at the commander's discretion. Smoke shells are great for concealment and quick relocation.

The Type 16 (FPS) armor is light. The vehicle can confidently withstand only machine gun fire. That's why speed and good reactions are the main resources of the Type 16 (FPS) commander. Use the Type 16's features and be the first to get into a good position or capture points while the enemy team is just getting out of spawn.

Along with the Type 16 (FPS), other vehicles of this platoon will appear in the game. Here they are!

ICV (P)

Another wheeled vehicle of the new Japanese platoon will be the ICV(P). It is very similar to the platoon leader – the same high speed, light armor. But the weaponry is noticeably different: high-speed 30 mm Bushmaster 2 Mk.44 cannon with APFSDS and APDS belts is perfect for close combat – can penetrate almost any enemy!

Type 74 (F)

This is one of the latest modifications of the Type 74 main battle tank. The vehicle is quite versatile – good mobility, excellent 105 mm L7 cannon and superb APFSDS make the tank especially successful for a sniper role and long range firefights.

Type 87

The Type 87 tracked SPAAG with 35mm cannons makes a great support vehicle or self-contained gunner: its mobility and high rate of fire allows the commander a wide range of tactics.

The Type 16 (FPS) Platoon (Rank IX) will be available from the Big Trophy of the Tank Campaign or from an offer after the start of the Season.
