New aviation map – whimsical cliffs, stone arches, and ancient mysteries.
The new aviation map “Tropical cliffs” invites pilots to a striking world inspired by the Phi Phi Islands in the Indian Ocean. This archipelago goes even further: wind and time have shaped it into a true work of art. The cliffs are more rugged, their forms more dramatic, and sandy beaches are almost nonexistent. Vertical walls plunge straight into the azure water, with only a few hidden coves offering narrow strips of sand.
Two large islands with winding coastlines sit at the center of the map, separated by a narrow strait. They are surrounded by dozens of small rock formations and several medium-sized, flatter islands. Some players may already recognize this location from the Halloween event, but it has since been refined and optimized for classic aerial combat.
The defining feature of “Tropical cliffs” is its rugged terrain, which forms a true stone labyrinth. The landscape features natural arches, the remains of an ancient bridge that resemble delicate stone lace, and even a modern railway bridge. Unusual natural formations stand alongside ruins, creating the feeling that you should be searching for archaeological sites rather than military bases. Fly only a short distance away from the archipelago and you reach the open sea, where there is nowhere to hide.
Airfields are located on flat islands with unobstructed coastlines, making enemies visible from a distance. Bases, however, are harder to spot. Some are positioned on highland plateaus of large islands. You can strike them by bombing from altitude or diving in, releasing your payload, then climbing sharply back into the sky.
Others are hidden in coves beneath the cliffs. You can approach them unnoticed through labyrinths and arches, destroy the target, then disappear into the maze of rock corridors or lure pursuers into a trap.
Pillboxes and fortifications are scattered across the archipelago. Supply trucks move between them while heavy tanks slowly crawl in search of enemies. Destroying ground targets helps your team earn points faster and disrupt enemy plans. Remain alert: during an attack it is easy to miss power line towers and crash.
“Tropical cliffs” is a true paradise for agile fighters and attack aircraft. Pilots can lure opponents beneath natural arches, force them into the cliffs, dart through narrow tunnels, emerge from deep gorges, and vanish again like ghosts. Heavy aircraft, however, should remain at higher altitude, as descending into the stone labyrinth risks losing energy and ending in a fatal collision with the terrain.
“Tropical cliffs” blends tight passages with open spaces, ancient mysteries with wartime realities. The map offers a rare sense of maneuverability and demands true mastery to turn its treacherous yet beautiful landscape to your advantage.
Pilots, we wish you clear skies and glorious victories on the new map in War Thunder Mobile (WTM)! Buckle up. The labyrinths await.
