A new Japanese top-tier common platoon led by a nimble tank with a 120 mm gun and an automatic loader!
The Type 10 was the result of a large-scale modernization program for the Japanese tank forces, which began in the mid-1990s. After a thorough analysis of the possibilities for upgrading the existing Type 90 and Type 74, the Japanese Ministry of Defense concluded that a fundamentally new vehicle was needed. The main requirements were: a weight of around 40 tons to ensure mobility in the Japanese terrain, a modular armor system allowing the level of protection to be varied depending on the combat mission, and modern electronics and fire control systems.
The tank was developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries with active participation from the Japan Self-Defense Forces. Between 1996 and 2000, key components of the vehicle were created and tested, including a new 120 mm smoothbore gun, a digital fire control system with automatic target tracking, and modular armor. These elements were first tested on the Type 90 chassis, and in 2004, the first full-fledged prototype of the future tank was assembled. One of the prototypes, with the serial number TKX-2-0005, had a bulldozer blade, which was abandoned in the production version. The Type 10 main battle tank was adopted in 2012.
TKX (P) is one of the prototypes of Japan's modern main battle tank. Meet the leader of the new tank platoon!
Mobility is one of the main features of the TKX (P). A powerful diesel engine provides high specific power and a maximum speed of 78 km/h. At the same time, the tank has an advanced gearbox that is just as fast backwards as forwards.
The TKX (P) prototype is armed with a 120 mm TKG cannon with an automatic loader. This provides a very high fire rate from a fairly large first-stage 14-round ammo load. The tank has only two types of shells – HEATFS and APFSDS: the former is for light targets, while the latter can penetrate most enemies at its rank.
The front turret projection of the TKX (P) has the highest protection, but the hull, gun mantlet, sides, and rear of the tank are very vulnerable. The ammo rack is located in the front of the hull, and hits to this area can be fatal, so it is worth covering the vulnerable hull as much as possible during matches.
The tank will perform best in active offensive combat, where the TKX (P)'s high mobility and fire rate will give it an advantage, or when firing from long distances from behind cover.
Now let's meet the other vehicles in the platoon!
Another modern Japanese main battle tank – agile, with a good gun, effective shells, and an automatic loader. A very good choice for urban combat and quickly capturing points!
The Type 16 is a wheeled tank destroyer capable of very high speeds, and its accurate 105 mm gun makes the Type 16 a decent sniper!
The SPAAG of the platoon is the tracked Type 87 with a pair of fast-firing 35 mm automatic cannons. It has a special armor-piercing belt in its ammo loadout, which allows it to effectively fight light armored vehicles and even penetrate the sides of tanks!

The TKX (P) (Rank XI) platoon will become accessible once you reach level 22 in the tank campaign. You have the option to instantly upgrade your campaign level using Golden Eagles to gain faster access to this platoon compared to other players, or you can progress through battles to level up.
