The Big and Medium trophies contain a modern German frigate with two types of missiles, torpedoes, and an autocannon!
Development of the German Sachsen-class frigates began in the mid-1990s as a joint program involving Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain. The lead ship, FGS Sachsen, was laid down in 1999 at the Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg and commissioned in 2004. These frigates are primarily designed to protect naval groups from missile and air threats.
Alongside its sister ships Hamburg and Hessen, FGS Sachsen joined the 2nd Flotilla of the German Navy based in Wilhelmshaven. Sachsen-class frigates regularly take part in NATO exercises, including Baltic Operations.
The Sachsen represents the modern European missile fleet. This high-tech new addition to War Thunder Mobile's upcoming update carries two types of missiles.
The Sachsen frigate's main armament features deck-mounted RGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles and Standard II missiles in vertical launch tubes. The Harpoons inflict greater damage, while the Standard IIs offer increased speed and maneuverability.
Complementing its primary missiles, the Sachsen carries 324mm torpedoes and a 76mm OTO Melara automatic gun in a bow turret. Though effective only at short ranges, this automatic gun can be a powerful weapon against other missile ships while your main launchers reload. For anti-aircraft defense, the ship will also be equipped with two 27mm automatic cannons.
The Sachsen boasts good maneuverability, even though its maximum speed isn't exceptional. However, with minimal armor, this frigate is highly vulnerable to enemy fire. Therefore, fighting in groups with allies and employing cover, such as islands or smoke screens are the most effective tactics.
*Vehicle specifications and camouflages are still work in progress and may differ on release.
The blueprints for Sachsen (Rank VI) can be obtained in War Thunder Mobile (WTM) from Medium or Big Trophies in the Ship Campaign with the start of the new Season.
