The war between sky and earth enters a new era! The upcoming War Thunder Mobile update will introduce the first self-propelled anti-aircraft (SPAA) vehicles capable of engaging aerial targets with not just gun fire, but also with surface-to-air missiles (SAMs).

Furthermore, radar systems will become fully operational in the game. With their help, players will be able to effectively detect, track and destroy enemy aircraft using both cannon fire and missiles. Radars will be available for all vehicles equipped with them in the game, including the new ones.

New Radar-Guided SPAAGs and SAMs!

At Rank X, Germany will receive the Gepard 1A2 SPAA vehicle. In addition to its twin 35mm cannons, it now features two launchers with Stinger missiles that have infrared homing seekers. These seekers automatically lock onto the heat signature of an aerial target – such as a jet engine's exhaust – and pursue it, destroying the target with a proximity fuse.

A new Soviet Rank X SPAA, the ZSU-23-4M4 "Shilka", will operate in a similar way with its "Igla" missiles. The new American XM975 SAM system guides its Roland missiles in a semi-automatic command to line-of-sight (SACLOS) mode via a laser beam. Simply lock your target with the radar, fire the missile, and keep the target in your sight until the missile hits!

Aviation Strikes Back!

However, don't think that anti-aircraft missiles are the ultimate weapon against aircraft. Pilots will be able to avoid incoming missiles with flares, as well as perform evasive maneuvers. For example, making a sharp turn just before the missile impacts, or executing a "rolling scissors", an extremely effective tactic against both missiles and enemy fighters on your tail!

Alongside the advanced anti-aircraft systems on the ground, new jet-powered strike aircraft with powerful cannons and unguided rockets are coming to War Thunder Mobile tank battles!

Meet the British Hawk 200, a compact attack aircraft armed with a pair of 30mm ADEN auto-cannons. The second newcomer is the legendary "Rook", the Soviet Su-25 attack aircraft with its 30mm GSh-30-2 cannons and impressive payload capacity. And finally, the iconic American A-10 Warthog attack aircraft, essentially built around its massive GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon with a blistering rate of fire of up to 4,200 rounds per minute! The thunderous roar of the Warthog's gun will become a true nightmare for light vehicles!
