The Big and Medium trophies contain a Soviet nuclear-powered guided-missile cruiser with three types of missiles and torpedoes.
The Project 1144 heavy nuclear-powered missile cruisers (NATO reporting name: Orlan) are the largest non-aircraft carrier surface combatants in the world to use nuclear propulsion. Development began in the late 1960s, with construction carried out at the Baltic Shipyard in Leningrad from 1973 to 1996. These ships were designed to serve as the backbone of the Soviet oceanic fleet’s strike forces, equipped with nearly every type of weapon developed for surface combatants. The lead ship, Kirov (later renamed Admiral Ushakov), was laid down in March 1973, launched in December 1977, and commissioned in December 1980.
Today, only one ship of this class remains in service with the Russian Navy: the Pyotr Velikiy. Meanwhile, the Admiral Nakhimov is undergoing modernization and is expected to return to service after a deep refit. These cruisers remain unique examples of global naval engineering, combining nuclear propulsion, powerful missile armament, advanced air defense systems, and the ability to operate ASW helicopters.
The most powerful ship in the Soviet fleet, and one of the strongest missile-armed vessels in the game, is coming to War Thunder Mobile in the next update. Meet Pr. 1144 – a unique nuclear-powered cruiser equipped with the full range of modern surface combat weaponry.
Following the Dutch Tromp, the Russian Project 1144 features three types of guided missile armament for engaging surface targets. Its primary striking power comes from P-700 Granit anti-ship missile launchers. These supersonic missiles are new to the game and deal massive damage to any type of target. However, due to their vertical launch method, they require some distance to properly align with their flight trajectory.
The second guided missile system is the S-300F air defense system, which can also engage surface targets. Completing the arsenal is the Osa-M short-range SAM launcher, featuring small, fast missiles with a high reload rate and the ability to strike enemy ships.
Three missile types sound impressive, but Pr. 1144’s armament doesn’t stop there. If launching missiles at close range becomes difficult, artillery has no such limitation. A pair of 100 mm automatic cannons provides a strong advantage in sudden encounters with other missile boats, which typically lack armor and are vulnerable to gunfire. Threats also come from below the surface. Submarines pose a danger, and to counter them, Pr. 1144 is equipped with the Metel 580 mm anti-submarine guided missile system.
Project 1144 is a true sledgehammer in the game. It fires less frequently than other missile ships, but delivers devastating damage. A full missile salvo from this cruiser can destroy some ships in just two or three hits once it reaches the target. However, the Granit missiles have a very long reload time, so careful use of your armament is essential. Prioritize the most dangerous threats. In addition, Project 1144 is one of the largest ships in its class, so secure cover in advance before beginning your reload.
In the Ship Campaign, only one ship can be taken into battle. Because of this, the Premium version of any ship is not a separate unit, but it completely replaces the standard “gray” version. After obtaining the premium version, the blueprints for the standard version of the ship will disappear from the store and trophies, and the ship itself will become unavailable in trophies and jackpots.
