[Coming Soon] JDS Yūshio: Marine predator

The Big and Medium Trophies contain the first Japanese missile submarine in the game.

Historical Note

The Yūshio-class submarines marked an important stage in the development of the Japanese naval sub fleet in the 1980s. They replaced the outdated Uzushio-class submarines and laid the foundation for subsequent, more advanced designs, such as the Harushio and Oyashio. A total of 10 submarines of this type were built and entered service between 1980 and 1989. They were actively used by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force for coastal patrols and anti-submarine warfare.

The lead ship of the series was laid down in late 1976 and entered service in 1980. Together with its sister ship Mochishio, the submarine Yūshio joined the 1st Submarine Group of the Maritime Self-Defense Force. In 1999, the Yūshio was decommissioned and scrapped.

JDS Yūshio (Rank VI)

The JDS Yūshio diesel-electric submarine will be the first missile submarine in the Japanese branch in the game. Let's take a look at the new addition to the upcoming War Thunder Mobile update!

The JDS Yūshio is armed with six 533 mm torpedo tubes, which can also be loaded with Harpoon anti-ship guided missiles in a submarine modification. These missiles will be the JDS Yūshio's main weapon in the game – they have a long range and deal consistently high damage. At the same time, launching from a submarine has the advantage of surprise, making it more difficult for enemies to activate their anti-missile defenses in time.

Torpedoes will prove to be no less useful, albeit at significantly shorter ranges.

The JDS Yūshio is slightly lacking in underwater time compared to nuclear submarines, but it outperforms most of the top submarines of other nations in terms of speed. The JDS Yūshio has no additional artillery weapons and can be very vulnerable to aircraft.

The main principle of successful gameplay in JDS Yūshio is stealth and surprise attacks. Yūshio is a powerful but vulnerable submarine. Stay close to allied ships – they can cover you from aircraft and other threats. Play at a distance, use missiles against the most dangerous targets on the battlefield, avoid frontal combat, and always watch out for dangers in the air. Wish you good hunting!
