Historical Note

The HMS Andromeda (F57), a Type 12I frigate, was built at the Portsmouth shipyard and entered service in 1968. The ship participated in many Cold War operations, including patrols off the coast of Rhodesia and repeated confrontations during the Cod Wars with Iceland. In 1973 and 1975-1976, Andromeda was repeatedly rammed by Icelandic patrol boats, yet she sustained the damage and continued her service. In 1982, the frigate took part in the Falklands War, providing defense for the aircraft carrier Invincible. After being upgraded with Exocet and Sea Wolf missiles in the late 1970s, Andromeda became one of the most technologically advanced ships of her class. In her later years, she served in the Persian Gulf, around the Falkland Islands, and in the Caribbean Sea.

In 1995, the ship was sold to India, where it was renamed INS Krishna and converted into a training vessel with its missile systems removed. Its service came to an end in May 2012, when it was sunk in the Bay of Bengal as a target during an Indian Navy training exercise.

HMS Type 12I (Rank VI)

The British missile frigate HMS Type 12I arrives in War Thunder Mobile in one of its latest upgrade configurations. The ship is equipped with powerful missile systems, torpedoes, and rapid-firing anti-aircraft cannons.

As with other missile ships in the game, the HMS Type 12I's main advantage is its guided missile system. The ship is equipped with four Exocet anti-ship missile launchers and a six-cell launcher for rapid-fire Sea Wolf missiles. The frigate's total salvo can inflict significant damage on any enemy, and small ships can be destroyed with just a few salvos.

The HMS Type 12I's secondary armament includes two triple torpedo tubes for close-range combat, as well as a pair of 40mm automatic cannons for anti-aircraft defense.

Lacking anti-ship artillery, the HMS Type 12I is best suited for the second and third lines of attack, launching surprise assaults on the most dangerous enemy ships. Being caught in the open is a quick trip to the hangar for this small, unarmored frigate, so it's essential to stay hidden among rocks and islands.

Premium version of the HMS Type 12I (Rank VI)

In the Ship Campaign, only one ship can be taken into battle. Because of this, the Premium version of any ship is not a separate unit, but it completely replaces the standard “gray” version. After obtaining the premium version, the blueprints for the standard version of the ship will disappear from the store and trophies, and the ship itself will become unavailable in trophies and jackpots.

Differences between the Premium and Standard versions:

the ability to get gold after a battle, according to the daily limit;
unique premium camouflage;
fully unlocked upgrades in the Arsenal;
the ship gets the maximum crew level immediately.

Premium version of the vehicle:

As a jackpot or as a random reward when attempting to open the Big Trophy.
By reaching the top-10 in the relevant Leaderboard.
From the Collector's Trophy after adding the vehicle to this trophy type;

Standard version of the vehicle:

As a jackpot or as a random reward when attempting to open the Medium Trophy.
Order vehicles for Silver Lions after collecting 1,000 blueprints.

Ways to get blueprints:

In Medium Trophy: 700 pcs in the guaranteed reward, or 10 to 100 pcs per attempt.
In Big Trophy: 700 pcs in the guaranteed reward, or 80 to 200 pcs per attempt.
In the in-game store: purchase for Silver Lions a Folder with a number of blueprints (even after the season ends).
