[Coming Soon] CV90120-T: Firepower in a Lightweight Hull

The Big and Medium trophies contain a Swedish light tank with a powerful gun on a fragile platform.

Historical note

The Swedish Combat Vehicle 90120-T light tank was developed in the late 1990s based on the proven CV 90 infantry fighting vehicle platform. The project aimed to replace the obsolete Ikv 91 infantry support vehicles. To meet this requirement, the CV 90 chassis was fitted with a new turret featuring a 120 mm smoothbore CTG cannon, an autoloader, and a modern fire-control system. As a result, the light tracked platform achieved firepower comparable to that of main battle tanks.

Despite frequent demonstrations at international exhibitions and its advanced technological level, the CV90120-T failed to secure a customer for mass production. As a result, only two prototypes were built, and both remained experimental vehicles.

Brief Analysis

Strengths: Highly effective APFSDS rounds, an autoloader, excellent mobility, and high top speed.
Weaknesses: Low overall protection.
Opportunities: Combines light-tank mobility with MBT firepower, making it well suited for aggressive assaults, sniper ambushes, and active reconnaissance.

In battle

The CV90120-T belongs to the large and successful CV90 family of combat vehicles. In this variant, engineers paired the highly mobile chassis with a truly powerful armament, elevating its firepower to the level of a main battle tank. Meet the new Rank XIII vehicle, equipped with a 120 mm cannon and an autoloader.

The CV90120-T’s primary armament is the 120 mm CTG cannon, supplied by a 12-round autoloader that enables a firing rate of one shot every five seconds. Its ammunition rack provides a versatile selection: HEAT-FS and HE shells are effective against lightly armored targets, while two types of APFSDS rounds are intended for engaging tanks. The most powerful of these achieves penetration of up to 600 mm.

Like all vehicles in the CV90 series, this model offers excellent mobility. Its high power-to-weight ratio enables rapid acceleration, allowing the CV90120-T to reach nearly 80 km/h forward and up to 45 km/h in reverse. This performance comes at the cost of protection, as the vehicle’s low weight is achieved through very light armor, which is only sufficient to withstand heavy machine-gun fire.

The CV90120-T is built for speed and audacity. Its light protection means it is unlikely to survive even a single hit from a tank shell or an anti-tank missile. For this reason, a CV90120-T commander must always strike first and attack from unexpected positions. The vehicle is equally effective in a sniper role. It can secure advantageous firing positions faster than its opponents, where its powerful armor-piercing shells deliver maximum penetration at any engagement distance in the game.

With this premium tank you’ll be able to enjoy faster Silver Lion and Research Point gains, and earn some Golden Eagles in your battles.
