[Coming Soon] Challenger-2 TES platoon: The Redcoats are coming!

The top-tier of common British armored vehicles will be led by the high-tech Challenger 2 with the latest armor!

Challenger 2 TES Platoon (Rank XI)

Historical note

Since 2002, Challenger 2 MBTs equipped with Dorchester Level 2 composite armor have been participating in ground operations in Iraq. Shortly thereafter, these vehicles received extra protection with composite armor panels on the turret sides and anti-cumulative grilles on the hull and turret.

In 2008, the armor was upgraded again. This time, the NERA packages were replaced with ERA produced by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Limited of Israel. This modification was designated TES (Theatre Entry Standard). It is one of the most advanced armor solutions available for the Challenger 2.

Challenger 2 TES

In War Thunder Mobile, the British Challenger 2 TES main battle tank is an upgraded version of the UK's main battle tank with enhanced protection.

The main improvement is the installation of ERA. Combined with spaced armor and composite screens, they provide almost complete protection of the sides from non-tandem cumulative rounds. However, the tank retains a weakened area around the gun mantlet. Therefore, during reloading in duels, it is worth slightly turning the turret away from the enemy.

The tank is armed with a powerful L30A1 gun. The best ammo for it is the L27A1 APFSDS, which has excellent armor penetration and flat trajectory. In addition, it is useful to have several other types of shell in the ammo load: HESH for light vehicles or smoke L34 shells.

In combat, the Challenger 2 TES is very effective at medium and long ranges. It requires careful tactics due to its limited mobility and vulnerable areas in the frontal projection.

Now let's meet the platoon!

Challenger 2

The FV4034 Challenger 2 is the basic version of the British main battle tank. Like the platoon leader, this tank stands out for its good protection and excellent weaponry. Its anti-cumulative protection is slightly simpler, but its mobility is somewhat better.

Desert Warrior

If the situation calls for excellent dynamics while maintaining high firepower, it's time to choose the Desert Warrior! A fast combat vehicle with a fast-firing 25 mm Bushmaster autocannon and tandem ATGMs.

Chieftain Marksman

This SPAAG is armed with a pair of 35 mm autocannons. The Marksman will often find targets on the ground, where a pair of rapid-fire Oerlikons with APDS belts can hit even some tanks.

*Commanders, the platoon units, characteristics and camouflages of vehicles are preliminary and may differ from those given in the article.

The Challenger 2 TES (Rank XI) platoon will become accessible once you reach level 21* in the tank campaign. You have the option to instantly upgrade your campaign level using Golden Eagles to gain faster access to this platoon compared to other players, or you can progress through battles to level up.
