As the major operator of the British Chieftain tank, Iran put forward a number of requirements for the modernization of the vehicle. In 1974, the implementation of these requirements was started. In 1977, the Shir 1 modification built to Iran's specifications was successfully tested However, due to the Islamic Revolution, the contract was frozen, and the UK had to look for a new customer. The Royal Jordanian Army became the new customer, which also requested to modify the vehicle to meet its own needs. The new tank was named Khalid – “sword”. The deliveries started in 1981. In total, Jordan ordered more than 270 tanks of this modification.
Khalid main battle tank is a modification of the famous British Chieftain tanks for the Royal Jordanian Army. In War Thunder Mobile, it will delight you with the trademark accuracy and power of the Chieftain tank gun, a strong turret head and an improved dynamics!
The Khalid received a 1200 hp Rolls Royce CV12 diesel engine, which will later be fitted to the Challenger tanks. This key improvement solves one of the main problems of the Chieftain tanks family – low mobility. The Jordanian tank is able to move almost on par with other MBTs of its rank, with much better maneuverability and ease of crossing off-road terrain.
The main advantages of the Chieftain were retained in the export version of the tank: an excellent gun with penetrating APFSDS and good turret protection in the front projection. The Khalid, which has safely concealed its vulnerable hull, is a really tough nut to crack! The tank alone can defend a strategic point or a whole direction on the map.
Here are the vehicles that will complete the Khalid platoon!
The wheeled tank destroyer Vickers Mk.11 is armed with the famous British L7 cannon, which penetrates almost any enemy on its rank. A great second line support vehicle!
The Warrior IFV is one of the best scouts of the VIII rank. It features high speed, 30mm automatic cannon and effective MILAN ATGMs.
The agile and compact self-propelled Falcon unit is armed with a pair of 30mm autocannons and can be a fatal surprise to aircraft and most armored vehicles.
The battleship Francesco Caracciolo was the lead and only one completed ship in a series of fast battleships of the Royal Italian Navy. The series received “dreadnought” guns of 381 mm caliber. At the same time, the ship had to have high performance with a sufficient level of defense. Francesco Caracciolo was laid down in 1914, and launched only in 1920. However, further completion was considered too expensive, and the project was closed.
The Italian battleship Francesco Caracciolo is a well balanced fast ship that will appear at Rank IV. Its distinguishing features are 381 mm main caliber guns, good defense and almost speed of a cruiser!
The main armament of Francesco Caracciolo consists of 8 guns of 381 mm caliber in four twin gun turrets. These guns fire heavy shells, effective against any naval targets at all ranges. The auxiliary caliber is also excellent – 12 152-mm guns for light targets far away or for the closest battle with armored opponents. The battleship has no torpedoes, but the air defense battery is surprisingly good for an early battleship – the Francesco Caracciolo is covered from air threats by 40mm automatic guns.
In terms of armor, the Italian battleship is slightly inferior to some battleships at its rank. However, in the most protected areas – the main armored belt and the frontal parts of the main gun turrets – the ship can be penetrated only by other battleships and only from rather close ranges.
Francesco Caracciolo's feature is its excellent speed. In fact, it keeps up with battlecruisers and heavy cruisers. The best tactic to use it is to attack in a group of allies, where the powerful guns of the battleship should destroy the most important and well-defended targets of the enemy team.
The experimental BV 155 B-1 ultra-high altitude interceptor was the result of refinements to the Me.155 fighter concept, which was equipped with a pressurized cockpit and a high-altitude engine.
The airplane was prepared for serial production by the spring of 1945, but the vigorous Allied offensive and the loss of production facilities in Finkenwerder made plans for a series production unfeasible.
The BV 155 B-1 has one of the longest wing lengths for a single-engine fighter in the game. It is designed specifically for high altitude operations, where the potential of its high-altitude engine is maximized. Few can compete with the BV 155 B-1 in terms of speed at high altitudes. The main task of the interceptor will be to hunt down heavy high-altitude bombers, as well as to destroy fighters that come up in search of allied bombers.
The huge wing area also opens up new opportunities for German fighters for horizontal turning combat – the BV 155 B-1 can “twist” almost any opponent with sufficient speed.
A pair of 20 mm MG 151 cannons in the wing consoles and a 30 mm MK 108 motor-gun with excellent HE shells can turn an enemy fighter into a flaming hulk from the first hit!
Like other high-altitude fighters, it is very dangerous for the BV 155 B-1 to stay at low altitude for long periods of time. The maximum speed of the aircraft drops significantly here, so there is only hope for maneuvering combat and allied support.
Don’t miss the fantastic chance to buy great premium vehicles at a discount and get a bonus – the keys for the Big Trophy from the “Wild Islands” season!
