[Coming Soon] La-11 – Prop Fighter’s Final Frontier

The La-11 was a formidable contender, arriving just as the era of propeller-driven fighters was coming to an end. Fortunately, you can experience its full potential in the skies of War Thunder Mobile!

Historical Note

The La-11 was designed as a long-range escort fighter, featuring high fuel capacity and powerful armaments to ensure effectiveness over extended distances. The additional fuel, however, came with the trade-off of increased weight, so the aircraft was equipped with the sturdy Shvetsov ASh-82 engine, though one of its guns had to be removed to accommodate the engine cowl. Despite seeing action well into the 1950s and achieving numerous air victories, the La-11 ultimately faced an unbeatable foe: the passage of time.

Overshadowed by the rise of jet aircraft, the La-11 transitioned into a trainer for Soviet pilots and continued to serve in the air forces of China and North Korea.

La-11 (Rank VII)

SWOT Analysis

  • Strengths: Equipped with some of the most powerful guns for its rank.
  • Weaknesses: Struggles to remain competitive at high altitudes; high drag when firing.
  • Opportunities: Excels in head-on engagements and close air support with 23 mm cannons.
  • Threats: Energy fighters that can consistently maintain altitude superiority.

Positioned solidly in Rank VII, the La-11 stands out for its powerful engine and formidable firepower. Its three 23 mm cannons deliver a strong, synchronized burst. A high level of crew upgrades increases firing accuracy.

While the La-11 can reach speeds of up to 680 km/h in a straight line at low to medium altitudes, it struggles against other fighters above 4 kilometers. This makes it most effective as a boom-and-zoom fighter. Climb to around 3,500 to 4,000 meters, dive on unsuspecting targets below, and regain altitude after each engagement. By doing so, you'll maximize the engine’s performance at low to medium altitudes, but it's best to avoid combat above 3,500 meters.

Premium ♠La-11♠︎ (Rank VII)

The Premium variant of the ♠︎La-11♠︎ is an extra plane for your roster! The premium ♠︎La-11♠ maintains the same performance as the standard variant, though it comes in a unique camouflage. With the premium ♠︎La-11♠, you’ll be able to enjoy faster Silver Lion and Research Point gains, and earn some Golden Eagles in your battles.
