A6M3 Zero (Rank IV)

Historical Note

The A6M Zero (“A” – carrier-capable fighter aircraft, “6” – model, “M” – Mitsubishi) was a Japanese light fighter. In 1940, the Zero entered service with the Japanese army, replacing the outdated A5M. For almost two years, they dominated the skies – until the arrival of the high-altitude American P-38. However, at low and medium altitudes, the Zero remained a significant threat until the end of the war. In just five years, more than 10,000 of these aircraft were produced.

SWOT Analysis

  • Strengths: x2 20 mm cannons, effective against fighters and bombers, suspended weapons, impressively fast turn rate.
  • Weaknesses: no armor, relatively low speed.
  • Opportunities: hunting fighters.
  • Threats: top fighters.

In battle

Unlike earlier versions, the A6M3 received a more powerful engine and a shortened wing. Japanese Zero is a true dogfight expert, able to over-perform most enemies in a turn rate. 20mm incendiary tracing shells of the Zero are very capable against enemy aircraft.

*The final branch interface and aircraft may differ from those presented in Early Access. Aircraft researched / purchased during Early Access will retain their status after the branch is opened to all players.

We wish you clear skies and a great experience in War Thunder Mobile (WTM), commanders!
