Ra'am Sagol (Rank XII)

Historical Note

The Ra'am Sagol modification (Hebrew for "Purple Thunder") was created on the basis of the Merkava Mk.3. Development began in August 1983, and serial production started in 1989.

In the 1990s, during the war in South Lebanon, an experimental active protection system called Ra'am Sagol underwent trials on vehicles of the Nakhshol armoured company, 71st Battalion, 188th Brigade. The system detected ATGM launches, signalled the crew, turned the gun toward the threat, and deployed a smoke screen. The system never entered serial production, giving way to the more advanced Trophy.

Brief Overview

  • Strengths: good protection, effective APFSDS, decent mobility, and the front-mounted engine shields the crew.
  • Weaknesses: prone to engine fires, vulnerable in the side profile.
  • Role in battle: like all Merkavas, it excels in offensive urban combat. Keep the engine's position in mind so you don't spend the fight repairing.

In Battle

Ra'am Sagol is an experimental version of the Merkava Mk.3. Compared to earlier modifications of the Israeli tank, the third generation received a powerful smoothbore 120 mm IMI MG251 gun. Its ammo load now includes an excellent M332 APFSDS with almost 590 mm of penetration.

For lighter targets, the tank uses a non-rotating HEAT round and a HE shell with a proximity fuse.

View the characteristics of the Ra'am Sagol’s shells:

The Merkava's protection is specific. The upper front plate of the hull is covered with multilayer composite armour, and the front-mounted engine often takes the hit itself, saving the crew.

However, this same feature often leads to engine breakdowns and fires. In addition, the Merkava's sides are vulnerable even to some autocannons, as with most modern MBTs. Don't forget to use cover in time and ask your allies for repair help!

Clemenceau (Rank V)

Historical Note

Clemenceau was the third Richelieu-class battleship, laid down on January 17, 1939, in Brest. The ship was named after Georges Clemenceau, Prime Minister of France during World War I. Due to the outbreak of war, construction proceeded slowly, and on June 10, 1940, it was halted for good. As German troops approached, workers flooded the dry dock.

After the capture of France, the Germans renamed the hull "Schlachtschiff R" and considered completing it, but abandoned the idea due to a lack of resources. In 1944, the hull was flooded during Allied bombing. In 1948, an attempt was made to sell it for scrap, but unsuccessfully. Only in 1951 was the ship bought and sent for melting down.

Brief Overview

  • Strengths: good survivability, very decent mobility.
  • Weaknesses: forward placement of the main caliber guns.
  • Role in battle: a battleship for medium and long-range engagements. The forward placement of all main caliber guns needs special hull positioning when firing.

In Battle

Clemenceau's main feature is two quadruple-gun turrets mounted in the bow. This means the battleship cannot fire backwards, but it also doesn't require turning fully broadside to fire all main guns.

And the guns here are good! Each turret mounts four 380 mm guns with good ballistics and very effective armour-piercing shells. They penetrate any opponent at any combat distance. Clemenceau's survivability is also quite decent, and its mobility is one of the best among battleships.

Successful tactics on Clemenceau revolve around the two bow turrets. Keep the enemy on your course and your 380 mm shells will do the job. At the same time, there's a high chance of protecting the citadel and vital modules from damage.

This is a ship for long-range play – its good mobility gives freedom of movement and won't let you be outflanked from awkward firing areas. In close combat though, the forward turret placement can cause difficulties: it's hard to maneuver and fire at the same time.

Venom FB.4 (Rank IX)

Historical Note

In 1948, de Havilland began developing an improved Vampire with a thinner wing and a Ghost engine. However, the military did not want a modernization, but a full replacement instead, so the designers had to rework the project almost from scratch. The VV612 prototype took to the air on September 2, 1949, and in 1952 the aircraft entered service as the Venom FB.1.

The FB.4 modification was the last version of the day fighter. It received an ejection seat, a more powerful engine, a redesigned tail structure, and hydraulic aileron boosters. A total of 250 were built. The Venom actively participated in 1950s conflicts, including the Malayan Emergency, the Suez Crisis, the Aden Crisis, where it served as a strike aircraft. By 1960, the aircraft had become obsolete and was withdrawn from service.

Brief Overview

  • Strengths: high maximum speed, good manoeuvrability, 4x20 mm cannons, bombs and rockets.
  • Weaknesses: rapid energy loss in turns, mediocre acceleration.
  • Role in battle: a fighter best used with maximum energy retention. Capable of sharp manoeuvres, but needs time to accelerate afterwards.

In Battle

The Venom FB.4 is a classic British fighter-bomber that plays like the best version of the Vampire. The key difference is the more powerful engine. It gives higher speed and improves acceleration while preserving the Vampire's signature manoeuvrability. The Venom can out-turn many jet aircraft at its rank, but the price is rapid energy loss.

Armament consists of four 20 mm cannons in the nose. Hardpoints for suspended armament allow you to take bombs or rockets, turning the fighter into a full-fledged strike aircraft. In this regard, the Venom beats many competitors, as it can cover both the air and suppress ground vehicles.

The Venom plays best in the vertical with constant speed control. Don't get drawn into prolonged turns, where you'll quickly lose energy and become easy prey. Instead, attack from altitude and immediately climb away, using your remaining energy.

If you've taken bombs or rockets, work from a dive. Destroy small ground targets with precise strikes and immediately break off the attack.

*Vehicle specifications and camouflages are still work in progress and may differ on release.
