[Announcement] Collections: From Dream to Orbit!
Announcing a new game mechanic for obtaining seasonal vehicles and thematic camouflages.
Commanders! The update to the seasonal reward system continues. As in the previous season, the main prizes can be obtained with certainty – no luck required. Blueprints for the season's top-tier vehicles – the Swedish tank Strv 122A, the Italian ship Maestrale, and the Soviet aircraft IL-28Sh – are the reward for the most dedicated researchers.
New Gameplay Mechanic
Season 38, "Launch Protocol," is dedicated to the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite – Sputnik-1 – on October 4, 1957. It was the first object created by human hands to be placed into near-Earth orbit, marking the dawn of humanity's space age.
The launch was carried out from the Tyura-Tam test site – later known as the Baikonur Cosmodrome – using the Sputnik (R-7) launch vehicle. The satellite was a sphere 58 centimetres in diameter, weighing 83.6 kilograms and equipped with four antennas. It completed 1,440 orbits around the Earth, and its signals were received on every continent.
How It Works: Search through piles of classified military documents to find fragments of old photographs and reconstruct the full story of Sputnik-1's creation and launch. Complete daily and seasonal command tasks to receive photo fragments and restore the complete photo archive.
Fragment drop chances:
- Common (gray) – 86.6%
- Uncommon (blue) – 7.4%
- Rare (purple) – 4.1%
- Classified (orange) – 1.9%
If you receive a duplicate from a task folder, there is no need to worry. Every repeated fragment adds progress to the auto-exchange counter, visible on the left side of the Collections window. Once the duplicate auto-exchange bar is full, you are guaranteed to receive one of the fragments you are still missing.
Progress added per duplicate:
- Common (gray) – 2
- Uncommon (blue) – 3
- Rare (purple) – 4
- Classified (orange) – 5
Filling the duplicate bar requires 4 progress points, after which a unique fragment is awarded automatically.
Example: Every two gray duplicates (2 points each) or every single purple duplicate (4 points) is automatically converted into one unique fragment.
In practice, this means that even with consistently poor luck – receiving only gray fragments from tasks – it would take just 162 gray fragments to complete all 9 collections and claim every event reward.
What does fully assembling all nine collections give?
Commanders who fully restore the legendary photo archive are guaranteed to receive:
- 2,700 Season Bonds
- 1,000 blueprints for the current season's top-tier vehicle
- 2 Keys for the Big Trophy
Where to get fragments?
Folders with secret documents are your primary source of collection photograph fragments, available completely free from three sources:
- Daily tasks: Complete them to receive 4 random fragments per day for 28 days – up to 112 fragments per season.
- Seasonal tasks: Completing four blocks of seasonal tasks earns an additional 60 folders.
- Automatic exchange of duplicate fragments.
In total, players can receive up to 172 folders per season – more than enough to assemble all nine collection photographs and fully complete the season's objective.
If you need to accelerate your progress, folders can be purchased in the store via the season window. Folders purchased from the store always contain only unique fragments – ones you do not already have.
What awaits in the Trophies?
The contents and reward logic for Trophy prizes are unchanged from the previous season:
- Small Trophy: In-game currency, and consumables.
- Medium Trophy: In-game currency, Keys, boosters, decorative items, blueprints for top-tier vehicles from previous seasons, and a Jackpot. The Jackpot can drop an unlimited number of times per season and contains a top-tier vehicle in its standard configuration. The season's main vehicle is the exception – it can only be obtained by completing the collections.
- Big Trophy: Keys, decorative items, blueprints for top-tier vehicles from previous seasons, the premium version of the current season's vehicle, and a Jackpot. The Jackpot can also drop an unlimited number of times per season and contains top-tier premium vehicles. As with the Medium Trophy, the season's main vehicle does not drop from the Jackpot.
Unique Thematic Camouflages
The new season brings not only a compelling story but also stunning custom camouflages crafted in the style of the first satellite launch era. Unlock the premium versions of the "Launch Protocol" season vehicles and take to the battlefields of War Thunder Mobile in style.
Please note:
- The Jackpot from each type of Trophy can be obtained an unlimited number of times per season.
- At the start of the next season, the top vehicle will change, and the current season's vehicles will move to the Jackpots of the Medium and Big Trophies respectively.
Battle Pass of the Season
The Battle Pass is not going anywhere. It continues to offer unique camouflages, decals, Bonds, Keys, and other valuable rewards, with its mechanics remaining unchanged.
Season Bonds can be obtained through the Personal Pass, by participating in events, by purchasing them at a discount in the store, or by acquiring sets for Platinum Wolves – tap the "+" next to the currency icon to get started.
Earn secret documents by completing command tasks, collect fragments of collection photographs, restore the "Sputnik-1 Launch" photo archive, and get the season's top-tier vehicle!
